Taipei Labour Office participates in 5th Singing Contest

 

           Mrs. Ratiwan Sunthra, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs) and Ms. Pimpaporn Thitayana, Counsellor (Labour Affairs) on August 19, 2012 participated in the 5th Oversea Workers Singing Contest organised by New Taipei City Workers Division at the New Taipei City Hall.

On August 7, 2012 Ms. Ratiwan Soontara, Minister Counsellor for Labour Affairs, and Mrs. Pimpaporn Thitayanan, Counsellor for Labour Affairs, traveled to Min-Sheng General Hospital in Taipei and visited Somporn Sornchai, a worker who accidentally slipped in a bathroom and suffered from a damage in the brain blood vessel. The doctor had operated his brain   while the patient was unconscious in an intensive care unit room of the hospital. The two offered cash from the fund for workers in the overseas to relatives of the patient.

Taiwan’s CLA to review quota on alien workers

 

Some 430,000 foreign workers are now working in Taiwan, according to statistics released by Taiwan’s Council of Labour Affairs (CLA). Out of the total foreign employees in Taiwan, about 280,000 persons are engaged in industrial sector. Both figures are new high records. However, entrepreneurs have expressed shortage of workers, forcing CLA to expand quota on bringing in foreign workers to work in the so-called ‘3K’ industrial works (Kitsui Kitanai Kiken or Difficult, Dirty, Dangerous) by 40 per cent. But different of opinions between business entrepreneurs and CLA persists.

On July 23, 2012, thirty officials from Office of Social Security, including Mrs. Ammorn Chaovalit, Advisor on Performance Efficiency, along with Mrs. Ratiwan Sunthra, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs), Ms. Pimpaporn Thitayanun, Counsellor (Labour Affairs), visited Linkou city to inspect on management of Chang Gung Health and Culture Village, a retirement village owned by Formosa Group, as part of their study trip.
