Labour Minister’s Advisor Commences Project to Prepare Workforce and Create a Career Guidance Network in Lampang

Date:
Friday, 15 November 2019

On November 15, 2019, at 09.00 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet chaired the opening of the workforce preparation program and activities to create a career guidance network (project to enhance vocational skills for students in underprivileged families who did not continue to study after mandatory education in Lampang). The advisor was joined together with Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, the Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General, Mrs. Jarunee Kemarangsee from the Lampang Labour Office and heads of all departments under the Ministry of Labour. There were over 65 trainees from all schools in Lampang participating in the project at Wiang Phana Room, Lampang Hotel, Wiang Thong Hotel, Lampang.

The vocational skills enhancement project for students in underprivileged families who did not continue to study after mandatory education, is an integration with many relevant government agencies that have come together to drive the benefit of the youth. The target group includes students in mandatory education or students who do not continue to study further. Together, the agencies find concrete supporting measures such as grants or other allowances for students to further their careers, arrange training courses suitable for positions in area, recruit for vacancies and provide information on the labour market, welfare and benefits at work. The efforts follow the memorandum of cooperation made with the Ombudsman, aimed to increase professional skills prior to entering the labour market as "skilled worker", which will create stability in income and occupation, as well as promote a good quality of life for the students in the group.
