Big C Invests over 1,300 Branches in Partnership with SSO for Section 40 Insurer Applications

          On February 26, 2020, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Lt. Gen. Nanthadet Meksawat presided over the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding on admissions and registration of insurers under Section 40 of the Social Security Act B.E. 2533. The MOU was signed between the Social Security Office and Big C Supercenter Public Company Limited. The Social Security Office’s Secretariat Mr. Tosapol Kritawongwiman, the Social Security Office’s Deputy Secretary-General Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, Director of the Bureau of Social Promotion for Informal Workers Outside the Social Security System Mrs. Khanitha Sribuachum, signed the memorandum of understanding with Executive Vice President of Service and Ecommerce Business at Big C Supercenter, Dr. Piyawan Piyapong and Director of Service Business Ms. Somying Songsermswasdi. The occasion took place at the meeting room, 4th floor, multipurpose building, Social Security Office, Nonthaburi.

          Secretariat to the Labour Minister Lt. Gen. Nanthadet Meksawat revealed to reporters that the government and Ministry of Labour, by Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, has policies that give importance to labour in creating fairness and reducing social inequality, to guarantee a stable life and improve the quality of life of the people. It has formulated an action plan on informal labour management services 2017 – 2021, to create social security and extend coverage to workers in independent sectors in all professional groups, including the increase of access to new electronic systems in modern ways. It has developed a system together with agencies recruiting and registering insurers under Section 40, which will help facilitate the people and workers in the independent sector to have greater access to social security. Today, together with Big C Supercenter PCL, it has created another channel that responds to the needs of independent workers to access registration services and the payment of contributions made by the insurers under Section 40 to be convenient, fast, and save traveling expenses and provide more coverage too.

          The Social Security Office’s Secretariat Mr. Todsaphon Kritwongwiman spoke about the memorandum of understanding. He said that this partnership is for the system development, together with service units in order to increase the ways to recruit and register insurers under Section 40 through Big C Supercenter PCL, which has branches throughout the country. This will facilitate the people when applying as an insurer under Section 40. Once the application has been approved by the Social Security Office, the first installment can be paid immediately, resulting in convenience and speed, as well as reducing travel costs. With the service desk of the counter in the Big C mall near home, it is easy to register an insurer under Section 40 with just one ID card. The initiative can support the growing number of insurers under Section 40 that will increase in the future. He thanked Big C Supercenter PCL for their cooperation in developing the new electronic system, that is up-to-date and beneficial to the employer and the insurers in the future.
