Content Description

Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Social Security Office is accelerating the survey on the need for Covid-19 vaccinations for insured persons under Section 33 in the workplace through the e-Service system on the www.sso.go.th website. The latest data from 6.5 million insured people shows that 80 percent want vaccinations, whereas 20 percent do not. He confirmed that the Ministry of Labour has the information of insured persons ready for those who want vaccinations from each company. A team of doctors, nurses, and medical personnel in networked hospitals will be able to immediately vaccinate the workplace workers.

On May 15, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the Ministry of Labour’s progress, which assigned the Social Security Office to accelerate the survey on the need for Covid-19 vaccinations for insured persons under Section 33 in the workplace through the e-Service system on the www.sso.go.th website. Given the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha is concerned about the workforce, as each day there are high rates of infection and death. Therefore, all agencies have been instructed to accelerate integration for proactive Covid-19 testing and the vaccination of the most vulnerable groups first. The Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, has assigned the Social Security Office to accelerate the survey on the need for Covid-19 vaccinations for insured persons under Section 33 in the workplace, for 11 million people. This survey aims to provide accurate information on how many vaccinations insured persons require and to create group immunity for workers in the workplace for 70 percent or more of the workforce. If the employees were to register themselves, employers would not know how many of their employees have been vaccinated. If there is immunization of less than 70 percent of the employees in the same facility, group immunization cannot be established. This will impact the overall acceleration on the control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr. Suchart said that for the plan to distribute vaccines to insured persons in the establishment, the e-Service system on the Social Security Office’s www.sso.go.th website has information on around 11 million insured persons under Section 33. A total of 6.5 million people has submitted the survey, in which 80 percent of insured persons want to be vaccinated. The remaining 20 percent do not want to get vaccinated. The Ministry of Labour will share this information with the Ministry of Public Health, the agency regulating the vaccine. The Ministry of Labour is also ready to receive the vaccines from the Ministry of Public Health to administer the vaccinations to insured persons in the workplace.

“We have a team of doctors, nurses, and medical personnel in the social security network hospitals with sufficient potential. In addition, I have instructed the Director of the Social Security Office of Bangkok in all 12 districts to find two locations in each district to administer the vaccinations, for a total of 24 locations. We believe that the Ministry of Labour is ready to receive the vaccines from the Ministry of Public Health to vaccinate workers in the workplace immediately,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
