On 5-6 November 2010, Labour Affairs of Royal Thai Embassy in Tel-Aviv went to Arava, located at Southern Israel 300 Km. away from Tel Aviv. The area is covered by the desert. The government has then promoted the citizen to migrate to work in agricultural sector. Currently, Arava has agricultural products at approximately 50% of total agricultural products exported from Israel and there are approximately 3,000-5,000 Thai workers working in. According to this visit, Labour Affairs called on Thai workers working in Mosav Hatsava Faran and Idan. It consequently found that all of them have satisfactory living condition and working environment but they earn low income that is not enough for rising price. In addition, the overtime payment does not conform with the law and drugs problems are found among Thai workers. Labour Affairs, therefore, coordinated with relevant authorities in solving those problems. After their visit, they also delivered Thai flag and sport gears to encourage them and boost their moral.
