Content Description

On January 17, 2023, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to preside over the opening ceremony of the training to raise awareness of the Ministry of Labour’s important policies on the prevention and resolution to labour trafficking in persons, under the project to prevent and resolve labour trafficking in persons, and promoting the improvement to the quality of life of informal workers, under the informal labour management project for elderly and disabled workers in Samut Songkhram Province for the 2023 fiscal year. The Samut Songkhram Provincial Labour Officer, Mrs. Rapassa Panikul, reported the event’s objectives. Head of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Samut Songkhram Province and training participants gave a welcome at the meeting room on the 1st floor of the Samut Songkhram Skills Development Office.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the Ministry of Labour is an important agency with a mission to drive the economy and take care of the country’s workforce so that they can have employment, a career, income, receive benefits and protection under the law, and have a better quality of life. This is in line with the country’s development guidelines for “stability, prosperity, and sustainability.” The Samut Songkhram Provincial Labour Office initiated both projects to establish mechanisms to drive the prevention and resolution of forced labour or services and human trafficking in labour, as well as to monitor performance, prevent and resolve forced labour or services, and human trafficking in labour to achieve concrete outcomes following government policies. It also aims to manage informal workers, elderly workers, and disabled workers to promote protection and development, enabling them opportunities to have a career, a job, income, and a good quality of life.
“Thank you to the public sector network, labour volunteers, and the informal labour community service unit that is an important force in driving the Ministry of Labour’s missions to the area. This project will enable participants to gain knowledge and understanding to drive policy mechanisms to prevent and resolve labour trafficking into action, and the informal labour management project to apply knowledge to further develop and improve workers’ quality of life,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
