Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Monitor Progress of Migrant Worker Online Registrations and Encourages Staff on Duty in Phetchaburi

Content Description

On January 15, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan to visit Phetchaburi to follow up on the online registration of migrant workers on the e-workpermit.doe.go.th website. The registration started on January 15, 2021, and will continue until February 13, 2021. The measures follow the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020, approving a waiver for migrants of the three nationalities (Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar) to remain in the Kingdom and work legally under special circumstances of the new wave of Covid-19 outbreaks. The visit took place at the Phetchaburi Provincial Employment Office.
The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, attaches great importance to the safety of public health, the Thai people, and foreign workers. With the new wave of Covid-19 infections, the number of confirmed cases has increased rapidly in many provinces. The government has, therefore, issued strict measures to control and prevent further spread. The Ministry of Labour, led by Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, cares for the workforce, including Thai workers and foreign workers. Therefore, he assigned his Advisor to monitor the progress of migrant worker registrations via an online system, which started today for the first day. The visit also encouraged the relevant staff. Workers or employers who have any questions about the process can ask for more information at the Provincial Employment Office, Employment Office Bangkok Area 1 – 10 or through Line @Service_Workpermit, or the Ministry of Labour’s hotline, tel. 1506 press 2 for the Department of Employment. Services are provided in Cambodian, Myanmar, and English languages, offering recommendations and advice on registering via the online system.
