On October 20, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan to preside over the meeting on measures to promote proactive labour relations during the Covid-19 crisis, to raise the quality of life and labour productivity, promote partner labour relations systems and alleviate the issue of workforce reductions at CRC Thai Watsadu Co., Ltd., Phetchaburi Branch, Samo Phlue, Ban Lat, Phetchaburi. Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi, Sheriff of Ban Lat District, President of Samo Plu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, executives of CRC Thai Watsadu, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour from Phetchaburi province gave a welcoming. Advisor to the Labour Minister said that the government, under Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, gives importance to promoting employment to drive the country’s economy. She said that today, the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin had assigned her to chair the conference on measures to promote proactive labour relations in the Covid-19 crisis, improve the quality of life and labour productivity, and promote partner labour relations systems and alleviate issues of workforce reductions. The labour relations system is important to the employment structure. It should adhere to the Sufficiency Economic Philosophy, and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s sciences applied to build good labour relations under the concept of “employers and employees working together as partners.” The initiatives will also help develop an organizational labour relations system to resolve labour disputes and conflicts by applying good faith as a negotiation principle. It will also promote and encourage cooperation between employers and employees, supporting good relationships and lasting friendships, and achieve peace in the workforce, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the meeting today is considered useful for developing labour relations management, where employers and employees get together as a partner in ideas and work, creating stability and progress in business operations. In this era of Covid-19, employers and employees must cooperate proactively, not cause conflicts, and support the business in operating without termination or closure. Bilateral systems should be used in consultation or negotiations if necessary. If companies must reduce their workforce, the Ministry of Labour asks that the measures and approaches to mitigate the dismissal problem be used as a guideline for resolving labour disputes and conflicts and promoting cooperation in further developing the organization’s labor relations system.
