Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Visit Vaccination Services for Workers in Camp Sites

         On July 21, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to visit Section 33 insured persons from the workers’ camps getting the COVID-19 vaccinations at Lumpini Tower, Vibhavadi Road, Chomphon, Chatuchak, Bangkok. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Managing Director of L.P.N. Development PCL Mr. Praphansak Rakchaiwan, Director of Kasemrad International Hospital Dr. Suraphan Thawivikakarn, and the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud also joined the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, is concerned for the workforce and the general public amid the COVID-19 outbreaks. Thus, vaccinations have been set as a national agenda. The Ministry of Labour has implemented a month-long lockdown of workers’ camps, vaccinating over 10,000 camp workers, with a remaining 70,000 people. The target is to vaccinate 3,000 workers daily from the campsites. There are 611 camps in Bangkok with 83,082 workers, comprising 32,471 Thais and 50,611 foreigners.
         “Today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned my team and me to visit the COVID-19 vaccination service point for workers in camps, at Lumpini Tower on Vibhavadi Road. The facility has the potential to vaccinate 1,000 people daily. The visit monitored the process and encouraged medical personnel. The workers who received vaccinations today were screened for COVID-19. They were workers from World Construction, and Engineering Co., Ltd., Thasiri Construction Co., Ltd., Pre-Built PCL, J&K Group Engineering Co., Ltd., and the Italian-Thai Development Co., Ltd. COVID-19 vaccinations in worker camps is one of the measures prescribed by the Ministry of Labour for prevention and treatment. Vaccinations will be expedited to insured persons following government policy to control the spread of COVID-19 and build immunity among the workers as well,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
