Labour Minister Assigns Assistant to Conclude Proactive Covid-19 Screening Program in the Workplace in Chonburi

          On February 24, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to preside over the closing ceremony of the proactive Covid-19 screening program for the workplace following the Labour Minister’s policies. The occasion took place at the King Pack Industrial Company Limited, Muang Chonburi, Chonburi. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, also joined the occasion. The efforts took a proactive approach to detect insured persons at risk in workplaces situated in provinces that were in the most controlled areas following the severity levels prescribed by the Center for the Covid-19 Situation Administration. A total of 232 people was screened from the company.

          The Deputy Labour Minister said that following the government’s policy under the national administration of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, gives importance to taking care of workers by creating coverage, care, services, and benefits for workers of all ages and groups. As a result of the new outbreak of Covid-19 infections, the Social Security Office has set proactive screening efforts in 28 provinces, intending to screen at least 100,000 people. The budget for the project is 200 million Baht. Five provinces are categorized as the highest controlled areas, including Samut Sakhon, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat, by order of the Center for the Covid-19 Situation Administration.

          Mr. Surachai continued that Chonburi province has been allocated to provide proactive Covid-19 screening for12,420 insured persons from 99 companies. Of the 12,420 insured persons, 11,075 are Thai, and 1,345 are foreign workers. The screening efforts did not find people infected with the Covid-19 virus, which is considered to build confidence among businesses and workers in the social security system. The efforts are in cooperation with hospitals in the social security program, including Phyathai Sriracha Hospital, Vibharam Laem Chabang Hospital, Vibharam Amata Nakorn Hospital, and Akchon 2 Hospital. “Thank you to all of the companies participating in the project for focusing on the health safety of the lives of insured persons in the company. The Ministry of Labour hopes that this program will benefit employees who are insured in the social security system,” concluded Mr. Surachai.
