Labour Minister Commences Social Security Hospitels to Support Insured Persons with Covid-19

         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin and the committee visited the Twin Towers Hotel, Rong Muang Road, and Avana Grand Hotel and Convention Center Soi Bangna-Trad 12/1, Bangna-Trad Road, Bangna, Bangkok. The hotels opened as a Hospitel under the social security network to support asymptomatic insured persons with Covid-19, receive adequate treatment, and ensure that insured persons with Covid-19 receive treatment to reduce the risk of fatalities.

         On May 4, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the opening of the Hospitel under the social security network to support Covid-19 patients. The occasion took place at the Twin Towers Hotel, Rong Muang Road, and Avana Grand Hotel and Convention Center Soi Bangna-Trad 12/1, Bangna-Trad Road, Bangna, Bangkok. The hotels opened as a facility to treat asymptomatic insured persons with Covid-19. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitvong, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and the Social Security Office’s Secretary General Mr. Todsaphon Kritwongwiman, also joined the occasion. The Labour Minister said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan emphasizes the Covid-19 situation to the current situation where a new variant of the disease is spreading rapidly causing an increased rate of infection. As a result, the number of facilities and medical beds for infected patients is insufficient. The Ministry of Labour sees the importance of solving this problem to ensure safety for insured persons and reducing the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, it has the policy to provide proactively Covid-19 screen screening for insured persons under Sections 33, 39, and 40 and provide Hospitels to support insured persons suffering from Covid-19. This is to build confidence among insured persons who are sick to get treatment and reduce fatalities. The Social Security Office worked with the hospitals and hotels to establish Hospitels, and with good cooperation from hospitals affiliated with Bangpakok.

         Mr. Suchart continued that the good health of insured persons in the crisis was a matter that all concerned parties need to give great importance to. When insured persons are in good health, it will benefit themselves, their families, and the country’s economy and is, therefore, a matter that deserves support. The Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has arranged for Hospitel facilities. There are the Twin Towers Hotel, Rong Mueang Road, with 80 beds, and Avana Grand Hotel and Convention Center, Soi Bangna-Trad 12/1, Bangna-Trad Road, Bangna, Bangkok, with 600 supporting beds. The Social Security Office has established a Center for the Covid-19 Situation Administration to coordinate with Hospitels for insured persons. Insured persons can call 1506 and press 6 as another channel of communication for those who cannot find a test site and hospital for treatment in case of infection. The service is available every Monday to Sunday from 08.00 hours to 17.00 hours. There are ten lines with staff available to assist insured persons and people suffering from the Covid-19 screening to receive support promptly.
