Labour Minister Discusses JOB EXPO 2020 Helping 1 Million Unemployed People Find Jobs at BITEC Banga on September 26-28

                The Labour Minister reported that the Ministry of Labour met with government agencies and private sector companies to prepare for the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2020, scheduled on September 26-28, 2020, at BITEC Bangna. The event will prepare 1 million job vacancies to help the unemployed from the impact of Covid-19.

                On September 3, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired the meeting to discuss the preparation of the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2020 at the Prof. Nikom Chandravithu meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. Secretary-General to the Ministry of Labour Mr. Suthep Chitvong, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, and related agencies attended the meeting. The Labour Minister said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, has prioritized the nation to accelerate economic recovery after the Covid-19 situation eases. He has introduced the policy of “Uniting Thailand to Build a Nation” to join forces from all sectors to plan Thailand’s future. Today, the Labour Minister convened a meeting with representatives from both public and private sectors, such as representatives of various ministries, employers, and representatives of private organizations looking to recruit, to collect the vacancies used for matching people who apply for jobs in various positions. The JOB EXPO is scheduled to be held at the end of this month. The meeting also discussed measures to promote employment of all relevant sectors through collaboration, to alleviate those affected by Covid-19.

                Mr. Suthep said that according to the Department of Employment’s information, the vacancies waiting to be filled in 2021 for JOB EXPO THAILAND 2020 totaled 1,000,000 positions. Divided into type, the vacancies included 106,312 positions from the Department of Employment, 112,242 positions abroad, 66,881 part-time jobs, and 410,415 vacancies in the public sector. Employment following employment promotion measures includes 260,000 new graduates with 44,150 jobs expected to hire Thai workers instead of foreign workers.

                JOB EXPO THAILAND 2020 is scheduled for September 26-28, 2020, at BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Center. The event is divided into exhibition zones, including the Father of Thai Craftsmanship Standards, the government sector zone, the state-owned enterprise zone, the private sector zone, the stage zone, the exhibition zone, the professional demonstration zone, and the guidance zone.
