Content Description

On January 15, 2021, at 16.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired the meeting to improve the management practices of migrant workers following the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020. The Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the meeting at the Tien Achakul Meeting Room, 10th floor, Department of Employment. The Labour Minister said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, attaches great importance to the safety of public health, the Thai people, and foreign workers. With the new wave of Covid-19 infections, the number of confirmed cases has increased rapidly in many provinces. The government has, therefore, issued strict measures to control and prevent further spread. The Ministry of Labour has commenced registrations for employers/business establishments to provide a list of migrant workers to be hired, and migrants to provide their personal information online, on the e-workpermit.doe.go.th website. The registrations start on January 15, 2021, and will continue until February 13, 2021. Once the deadline has passed, migrant workers will not be able to proceed with the next steps and will not be able to remain in Thailand.
