Labour Minister Shows Concern for Victims of Gas Pipe Explosion in Samut Prakarn and Orders SSO to Expedite Compensation Following the Procedure

          The Labour Minister showed concern for those injured and expressed condolences to the deceased’s families from an accident resulting from a gas pipeline explosion in Samut Prakan. The SSO has expedited an investigation to provide assistance and benefits according to the procedures.
          On October 22, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the NGV gas pipeline explosion in Samut Prakan, causing 40 injuries and three deaths. He said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha expressed condolences to the deceased’s relatives and concern for those who were injured in this incident. He ordered agencies under the Ministry of Labour to investigate the facts and check the insured status of the deceased and injured. The Ministry of Labour is ready to coordinate with relatives to provide assistance and remedies to receive benefits according to the legal procedure.
          Mr. Suchart added that the Samut Prakan Provincial Labour Office’s found that the incident occurred at 13.10 hours, while workers of the construction project forced a backhoe drill to hit an NGV pipeline of PTT Public Company Limited on the roadside, which resulted in a gas pipe leak. There was an explosion, and a fire broke out at the rural highway road expansion project, ChorChor. 3001 (Theparat-Ladkrabang Road) in front of Prengwisuthathibadi School, Preng, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan.
          For assistance, the Samut Prakan Social Security Officer conducted an investigation and found that at Bang Bo Hospital, there were two deaths, who were not insured, persons. Seven people were injured, and one of them was an insured person, Mrs. Sumitra Chitamor, who works at the Primary Education Office, Area 6. Doctors prescribe her to rest for treatment. At Ruamchai Pracharak Hospital, there were four injured persons, whereby one was insured under Section 39, Ms. Sureewan Soncharoen. Doctors prescribe her to rest for treatment. At Buddhasothon Hospital, two injured people were not insured persons, and at Bang Sao Thong Hospital, there were eight injured persons. One person was insured under Section 39, Khun Jirapon Ketsiri, still under medical treatment by doctors. The rest are in the process of reviewing the information to provide further assistance to protect the benefits of those affected.
