Labour Minister Visit Chiang Rai to Follow Up on the Labour Situation and Workforce Development to Drive the Economy and Tourism in the Upper Northern Region

          On January 25, 2023, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, presided over the meeting of heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the upper northern region 2, consisting of Chiang Rai, Phrae, and Nan, Phayao. The meeting followed up on implementing the Ministry of Labour’s policy for the first quarter of the 2023 fiscal year. The meeting also covered the results of accelerating the management of foreign workers and promoting the systematic management of foreign workers and promoting skill development in the community economy for industrial products and community enterprises. Chiang Rai Provincial Governor, Mr. Puttipong Sirimat, gave welcoming remarks. The Ministry of Labour’s executives, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the upper northern provinces development group 2, also attended the meeting at the Jomkitti Conference Room, 3rd floor, Chiang Rai City Hall, Rim Kok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province.
          Mr. Suchart said that today, he joined the meeting to follow up on the performance following the Ministry of Labour’s policies provided and to acknowledge the guidelines for driving government policies on labour in Chiang Rai Province. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the government emphasizes developing workers of all ages to become quality workers, have stable careers and incomes, and be protected by the law and social security. The government has driven the policy for a quick economic recovery, especially in tourism and services. There are many tourists, especially in Chiang Rai, the lead for the upper northern province development group 2, consisting of Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, and Nan. It has the right climate and important tourist attractions, linking trade and investment among countries in the Mekong region and linking the development with the provinces above, especially the development of quality manpower to support trade and investment in tourism and service businesses, logistics, and other areas at the regional and global level.
          Mr. Suchart continued that the meeting was held to acknowledge the guidelines and progress of the implementation of the policy to develop people in all sectors to have a good quality of life. The meeting also acknowledged the problems and obstacles, along with suggestions for agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the upper northern provinces group 2 consisting of Chiang Rai, Phrae, Nan, and Phayao, to improve the policy-driven approach to be more efficient.
