Labour Minister Visits Samut Prakarn to Inspect Proactive Covid-19 Screening Services for Employees in Enterprises

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin led the committee to visit Samut Prakarn to inspect, give encouragement and deliver supplies to workers providing proactive Covid-19 tests to insured persons at Thai Metal Aluminium Co., Ltd.

          On May 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin paid a visit to deliver supplies and encourage workers providing proactive Covid-19 tests to insured persons at Thai Metal Aluminium Co., Ltd., on Praksa Road, Muang, Samut Prakan. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Social Security Office’s Secretary General Mr. Todsapol Kritawongwiman, Chairman of the Automobile Workers Organization Council Mr. Manit Promkarikul, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion. The Labour Minister reported that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha is concerned about the workforce amid the Covid-19 outbreak due to the widespread of the pandemic and the increasing infection rate. Therefore, the Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, was instructed to expand proactive Covid-19 testing facilities to establishments to accelerate control over the outbreak in dark red areas, such as Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Chon Buri, Rayong, Samut Sakhon, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.

          Mr. Suchart said that today, he visited Samut Prakarn to inspect and give encouragement to the employees and workers, providing the proactive Covid-19 tests for employees at Thai Metal Aluminium Co., Ltd. The Samut Prakan Social Security Office has worked with hospitals in the social security network in the area to arrange mobile screening services to be set up at establishments where employees are at risk of exposure, providing Covid-19 screening. Those screened will get results within 24 to 48 hours. The factory had 490 employees, whereby 410 people were tested today. If the virus is detected, patients will have to undergo the treatment process specified by the Ministry of Public Health. The employees in the establishments do not have to pay for the screening.
