Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed the Social Security Subcommittee Chairman on the Senate Labour Committee and committee to meet and discuss social security on the Senate Labor Committee to help insurers and businesses amid the Covid-19 crisis.
On January 18, 2021, at 16.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Social Security Subcommittee Chairman on the Senate Labour Committee Mr. Narong Rattananukul, assigned by Chairman of the Senate Labour Committee Pol. Gen. Adul Saengsingkeaw, along with Senate Labour Committee member Mr. Manat Kosol, who led the committee to meet with the Labour Minister to discuss social security on the Senate Labour Committee. The Labour Minister chaired the meeting, along with Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives, who also joined the meeting at the Prasong Rananant meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The Labour Minister said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, have instructed the Ministry of Labour to care for the workforce, taking into account the health safety of Thai and foreign workers. With the new wave of Covid-19 outbreaks, the number of infections has increased rapidly in many provinces. The government has mobilized all sectors and released strict and continuous measures to control and prevent further spread.
The Senate Labour Committee recommended ways to amend the Social Security Committee’s regulations on the Provision of Social Security Fund Benefits B.E. 2559 to the affected workforce. There has been a severe economic crisis resulting from the Covid-19 epidemic, whereby workers are at risk of layoffs. Efforts include the provision of ways to help both insurers and businesses access low-interest funding sources, increase the management of the return on the interest of the Social Security Fund, to develop Thailand’s social security system to be more efficient and effective, and to resolve problems under economic the crisis to enable insurers and businesses to overcome the Covid-19 situation.
