Labour Minister’s Assistant Monitors Covid-19 Situation Among Northern and Northeastern Provinces

          On January 8, 2021, at 09.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong chaired the meeting to monitor the Covid-19 situation in the north and northeastern provinces through video conference, to monitor the situation report and take other actions related to the orders the MOL CCSA in the province. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Ampun Thuvavit and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian also joined the meeting at the Sangsingkaew meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.

          The meeting asked for all provinces’ cooperation in promoting employers and companies to publicize the Ministry of Labour’s announcement on requesting cooperation to forbid the movement of foreign workers into or from outside areas at risk of the Covid-19 outbreak, providing screening measures such as body temperature measurement, providing hand sanitizer gel, mask-wearing controls and educating foreign workers on how to protect themselves. It also discussed the Ministry of Labour’s orders on the establishment of Ministry of Labour’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration Center (MOL CCSA) and the Cabinet’s resolution on allowing migrant workers of the three nationalities (Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar) to stay in the Kingdom and work legally under a special case that is the new wave of the Covid-19 outbreak. The meeting further acknowledged the Ministry of Labour’s remedial measures for insured persons affected by the new wave of the Covid-19 outbreak, the report on the Covid-19 outbreak in each province, and situations when infected workers are found. The report also covered the number of establishments/number of employees classified as Thai employees of foreign workers (nationality) and actions such as transportation to quarantine or treatment for self-care and protection from Covid-19.
