The Deputy Labour Minister and the Ambassador of the Swiss Federation in Thailand commenced a demonstration on automation with measuring tools and robots to promote cooperation between the public and private sectors and international relations.
On November 25, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat commenced the demonstration activity on automation with measuring tools and robots to support and promote cooperation between the public and private sectors in skill development and promote good relations between the two countries. The occasion took place with H.E. Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda, Ambassador of the Swiss Federation to Thailand, Mr.Pierre Hagman, Head of Delegation to the Embassy, Mr. President of the Swiss-Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, representatives from Max Value Technology Co., Ltd., representative of Unical Works Co., Ltd. and representatives of the Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association also participating in the event, which took place at the Manufacturing Automation and Robotics Academy (MARA) in Chonburi.
Prof. Narumon said that today’s production technology is changing rapidly. Therefore, industries and establishments in Thailand need to accelerate the transformation of production models to be modern, fast, accurate, and highly efficient, to provide good quality products and services with reliability, which are accepted by consumers. Automation and robotics are therefore important factors to modernize Thai entrepreneurs’ production in response to the needs of Industry 4.0 and government policies, especially the development of the EEC, or Eastern Economic Corridor, that is the driving force of Thailand’s economy.
The Deputy Labour Minister continued that the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development, as the main body of the country’s skill development efforts and the certification of skill standards for the country’s workforce, recognizes the importance of labour shortages and skill enhancements in the field of automation and robotics in the EEC area. The EEC has established the Manufacturing Automation and Robotics Academy, or MARA, as the main agency to drive skills development and labour assessments, develop supervisors and factory trainers, and build cooperation with public and private agencies both domestically and internationally, to develop manpower with modern technology following set goals.
This initiative was a collaboration between TISO, Sylvac SA Co., Ltd., a Swiss precision instrument manufacturer, Max Value Technology Co., Ltd. (company representative), and Unical Works Co., Ltd. (a joint venture with Sylvac SA). Sylvac SA supported the cooperation by borrowing a 2D scanner as a high-quality optical dimensioning machine for training workers in the EEC area. It also jointly conducts a course on measuring instruments and automated inspection of workpieces and conveyor 4.0 to be used for training as well.
“Today’s activities will be another important step in enhancing the workforce’s skills in the EEC area, in addition to helping to increase the productivity of the workplace. The skills acquired by workers will add value to be used for further work and part of the development of production technology, including cooperation between the two countries in the future,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
