On January 27, 2023, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, to preside over the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Employment Promotion. The occasion took place at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour as the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, the Ministry of Labour’s executives and representatives from relevant agencies also joined the ceremony.
Mr. Surachai said that as the COVID-19 situation has eased, the economy has recovered, and there is increased demand for labour to the extent that there is likely to be an issue of labour shortage. Therefore, the Ministry of Labour has prepared a project to increase the efficiency of employment services to support the unemployed to return to the workforce. The efforts aim to drive public services through electronic systems (e–services), linking information with government agencies and the private sector through workforce analytics or Big Data. Today, the Department of Employment joined government agencies and the private sector for a total of 9 agencies, consisting of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Confederation of Thai SMEs, the Thai Hotel Associations, Job My Way Recruitment Co., Ltd., Good Job Professional Recruitment (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Getlinks Recruitment Co., Ltd., and Internships Recruitment (Thailand) Co., Ltd., signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Employment Promotion, to create the Labour Big Data Analytics system for collecting data on labour demand and the workforce to solve labour shortages and unemployment.
“This huge amount of data will help prepare manpower planning in line with the needs of the labour market and guidelines for national development. The efforts are also consistent with the government’s policy under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, who wants the Ministry of Labour to work with all sectors to drive the 20-year national strategic plan to create career opportunities, provide people with income and improve their quality of life,” said the Assistant to the Labour Minister.
The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Phairoj Chotikasatien, said that the MOU on the cooperation framework that the Department of Employment signed with all nine agencies had five important aspects as follows:
            1. Promote employment by increasing access to job vacancies for people to have the opportunity to choose jobs that are suitable for their knowledge, aptitude, and experience, including analysis of the country’s labour market demand and trend.
            2. Encourage people to have opportunities to develop their knowledge, abilities, and aptitudes to suit future labour needs by increasing access to online training courses and information through the “thaimeengantum” platform.
            3. Link the job vacancies available in recruitment companies’ platforms into the “thaimeengantum” platform to increase convenience for the people, the unemployed, and those who want to find a job so that they can use job search services on one platform without charges.
            4. Supporting economic data, including overall economic trends, the Industry Confidence Index, and the survey results from the Federation of Thai Industries or other relevant data sources to be used in analyzing trends in demand for labour in the industrial sector.
            5. Join in spreading awareness to promote employment, provide labour knowledge that is beneficial to people in finding work, and participate in labour fairs by providing employment services to job applicants without charging service fees or expenses.
