MOL Joins Meeting at the Center of the Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA)

          On February 25, 2021, at 08.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian joined a meeting at the Center of the Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at the Santimaitree Building, Government Houses. The meeting was chaired by Secretary-General of the National Security Council General Natthaphon Nakaphanich, covering the following agenda items:

          1. Project to increase the efficiency of Covid-19 screening in Mae Sot, Tak.
          2. Monitoring and driving public health measures to tackle the problem of the next phase of the disease.

          The meeting considered the issues according to the first item on the project to improve the efficiency of Covid-19 screening in Mae Sot District, Tak, in organizing a Covid-19 screening system and safety zone following disease control measures to prevent further Covid-19 outbreaks. The focus was on the second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge crossing point for the import and export of goods that will affect the economy and border trade. In normal circumstances, border trade exceeds 80 billion Baht per year. During the new wave of Covid-19 outbreaks, the border trade value reduced to 65 billion Baht per year. The discussion covered the surveillance of population migration, escaping political problems from Myanmar to Thailand in Mae Sot, Mae Ramat, and Meet Phra in Tak province. The meeting resolved to approve in principle, agreeing to propose to the Cabinet for further consideration.

          On the second item, the meeting approved to downgrade the control area of Samut Sakhon.
          In addition, the president emphasized the promotion of border trade by requiring the Ministry of Interior to coordinate with various agencies to prepare a safety zone with vaccine support and disease control measures.
