On Friday 17th June 2011, Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia in coordination with the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, headed by the Thai Ambassador to Malaysia, assisted in a preparation for an advance election outside the Kingdom at Johor state’s Batu Pahat.

Batu Pahat is an industrial town, 300 km south of Kuala Lumpur. Most of the Thai people residing in the town work in cloth manufacturing factories, food processing factories, or shrimp farms. The election was held Grimmill Industrial (M) Sdn. Bhd., a readymade cloth export company. On the polling day, many Thai people including Thai workers, who live in Batu Pahat and neighboring towns turned out to exercise their right. Three election commissioners and staffs came to observe the election.
