On January 18, 2023, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, paid a visit to observe services of the proactive healthcare project for insured persons in the workplace at SB Furniture Industry Co., Ltd., Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. Nonthaburi Provincial Governor, Mr. Sutee Thongyam, the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Executive of SB Furniture Industry Co., Ltd., Mr. Pidet Chavaldit, Executive of Sakthong Company ( Thai) Co., Ltd., Mr. Thanatat Chavaldit, Director of Kasemrad Rattanathibet Hospital, Dr. Yorn Jiranakorn, Director of Kasemrad International Hospital Ratthanatibeth, Dr. Suraphan Taweevikarn, the Ministry of Labour’s executive, the Social Security Office’s executives, heads of government agencies in Nonthaburi Province and staff from the Social Security Office joined to give a welcome.
The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, said that the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, emphasizes the promotion and protection of insured persons to have good health and the principle of “prevention is better than cure.” The Ministry of Labour was instructed to accelerate the start of the proactive healthcare project for insured persons in the workplace. “As the Labour Minister, I have assigned the Social Security Office to carry out the project to prevent and control diseases, screen for health risks, and use technology to provide medical services. If insured persons get a health check to screen for diseases and monitor risk factors from work-related and non-work-related diseases, it would help reduce expenses in medical treatment and can reduce the number of days off from work, including the rate of chronic illness, disabilities, and death.”
Today, the Labour Minister paid a visit to observe services of the proactive health care project for insured persons in the workplace at SB Furniture Industry Co., Ltd. The visit aimed to give morale to staff from social security hospitals participating in the project activities. He also thanked the organization for their cooperation and for recognizing the importance of good health care for insured persons. The efforts aim to provide stability at work, access to government services, reduce social inequality and drive towards stability, prosperity, and sustainability. The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, also expressed confidence that a proactive health care program for insured persons in the workplace will have a positive effect on insured persons of working age, enabling them to take care of their health, giving them a better quality of life and becoming an important force in driving the country’s economy as well.
Executive of SB Furniture Industry Co., Ltd., Mr. Pidet Chavaldit, said that the cardiovascular risk screening program that the Ministry of Labour piloted today in the workplace is a good project to support employees’ health. It gives each employee access to treatment, allowing them to maintain their health to prevent illnesses from various diseases caused by changing lifestyles. Therefore, he thanked the government, the Ministry of Labour, and the Social Security Office for positive projects like today that aim to support organizations so that employees are free from disease, have social security, and a better quality of life.
The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyu, spoke about the implementation of the proactive healthcare program for insured persons in the workplace. He said that it started operating from January 9 to 16, 2023. Insured persons received health check-up services at a medical facility in establishments in 7 pilot provinces, namely Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Chon Buri, Pathum Thani, Rayong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Samut Sakhon. The total comprised 7,104 Thai insured persons and 1,433 foreign insured persons, totaling 8,537 people. He thanked the Kasemrad Rattanathibet Hospital and Kasemrad Hospital International Rattanathibet for their cooperation in providing health check-up services for 1,500 insured persons at SB Furniture Industry Co., Ltd. The health check-ups included screening for risks of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including blood sugar testing and fat in the blood. They provided advice and consultation on behaviour changes for risk groups. Companies that are interested and are in the area of the above seven provinces can inquire about participating in the project at the Provincial Social Security Office or branch where the company is located. The Social Security Office is prepared to support the health care of insured persons as everyone is “part of the social security family,” concluded the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General.
