Thai worker bags award from Korean Speaking Contest in South Korea

On 9 September 2011, Office of Labuor Affairs in South Korea participated in the 3rd Korean Speaking Contest on foreign workers, organized by South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labour and Human Resource Development Korea at the HRD Korea Head Quarter in Seoul. Mr. Litthikait Thurapa, who goes to work in South Korean under Employment Permit System (EPS), won third place in the men’s singles.

 

Ministry of Employment and Labour and Human Resource Development Korea held the Korean Speaking Contest for the third consecutive year. The contest aims at promoting Korean skills of foreign workers under the EPS system. The qualifying round went underway across the nation early this year. The final round took place on Sunday 9 September 2011 during 2pm-6pm. There were 11 contestants from seven countries in the final round – including four Vietnamese, two Bangladeshi, and one each from Thailand, Cambodia, Mongolia, Nepal, and Pakistan. There was one team in the final round of the team competition.

 

In the men singles’ contest, a Vietnamese contestant won the first place with a prize of one million won; the Nepal contestant came in the second place wining a prize of two hundred thousand won; and Thai, Bangladeshi, and Mongolian contestants won the third place with a prize of five hundred thousand won each.

 

Mr. Litthikait Thurapa, 30, is from Sakon Nakhon Province. He came to work in South Korea under the EPS system four year ago. He works at a PVC tube manufacturing factory in Chungcheongnam Province’s Asan City.
