The Permanent Secretary of Labour Travels to Lampang to Visit informal Workers to Create Jobs, Careers and Develop Quality of Life

          On January 28, 2023, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, traveled to Lampang Province to chair an off-site meeting of heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Lampang Province. The meeting followed the implementation progress of the Ministry of Labour’s policy for the 2023 fiscal year. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Lampang Province, also attended the meeting at Lampang Green Garden Resort, Muang District, Lampang Province.
          Mr. Boonchob said that under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the government emphasizes promoting careers in the informal sector, including community enterprise groups to support employment at the local level and further develop into SME entrepreneurs. The effort complies with the government policy that has focused on informal workers, as it is the largest group of workers in the country. The informal sector is an important force driving the country’s economic development to compete with other countries. On the Ministry of Labour’s part, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned agencies under the Ministry of Labour to promote and support informal workers to strengthen the group and to develop products to have value, generate income, and stimulate the community economy.
          Mr. Boonchob continued that today, he and the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Lampang Province visited the area to encourage informal workers. They visited the “Mae Sai Kham Sewing Group” in Ban Mae Sai Kham, Moo 6, Ton Thong Chai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lampang Province. To visit’s objective was to observe and listen to the performance of the group’s product showcases, such as sewing clothes and sewing cloth bags by the Mae Sai Kham sewing group. They also met with subdistrict labour volunteers in Lampang province. Labour volunteers coordinate the Ministry of Labour’s missions in the area. They are people who sacrifice and devote themselves to the public, working closely with people in the community to coordinate labour services so that people can have jobs, skills, occupations, and income and have protection and sustainable social security. On the same occasion, they visited the Majestic Food Industry Co., Ltd., an agricultural product processing enterprise located at Ban Pa Khrai Tai, Nong Lom Subdistrict, Hang Chat District, Lampang Province. They listened to a briefing and observed activities to promote the establishment of savings cooperatives in the workplace. They also visited the area to encourage trainees of the bilateral welder course and regular employees joining courses for crane commanders, signaling to crane operators, parcel binders, and crane operators, at the Lampang Skill Development Institute 10, Pong Saen Thong Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lampang Province.
