The project on labour law for foreign workers in Macau

Office of Labour Affairs in Hong Kong held the 2nd batch of Labour Law Course 2011 on 11 September 2011 at meeting room of Labour Department in Macau. There were officers of Office of Labour Affairs in Hong Kong, non-formal education students and Thai workers totally 33 people attended.
Ms. Lam Pui HIng  (Functional Chief of DSAL) lectured on the topic relating to labour relations law and benefits for foreign workers. After the course, there were some questions raised by Thai workers such as minimum wage rate, the notification on contract cancellation since Macau labour law for foreign workers did not specify provisions regarding minimum wage but its minimum wage depends on the amount specified in the employment quota, the employer are unable to pay lower the specified amount and the cancellation of employment contract shall subject to a notice in advance as the date set in employment contract or otherwise it can be notified 7 days in advances. If the employers fail to abide by the law, the workers can complain at Macau Labour Department.
