The released Thai hostages returned to Thailand today at 07.35 hours on Emirates flight EK 374. The parents, relatives, and families of the workers were waiting to warmly welcome them back home amidst media representatives covering the news at Gate 10, Arrivals Terminal, Suvarnabhumi Airport. Labour Minister Reveals Five Thai Workers Released from Hostage are Safe and Communicating Normally: Permanent Secretary Assigns to Ensure Entitlements from the Fund and Social Security are Received

On January 30, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, spoke about the progress of 5 Thai workers released from hostage by Hamas in Israel. He said that he received a report from the Minister Counselor (on Labour) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv. At 13.00 hours. Israeli time, the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv released the names of the five Thai workers who were released in Khan Younis, as follows: 1) Mr. Watchara Sri-uan, 32 years old, native of Udon Thani Province; 2) Mr. Phongsak Tanna, 35 years old, native of Buriram Province; 3) Mr. Sathien Suwannakam, 34 years old, native of Nong Bua Lamphu Province; 4) Mr. Surasak Lamnao, 30 years old, native of Udon Thani Province; and 5) Mr. Bannawat Sae Tao, native of Nan Province. All of the workers have undergone initial medical assessments. All are safe, and their mental health is good. Labour Minister Leads Special Task Force to Inspect Foreign Workers in Songkhla: Advises Business to Register Workers Properly

On January 27, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, Mr. Somchai Maruksriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Mr. Pichet Thongphan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives visited Songkhla Province to follow up on the implementation of the policy-giving project and listen to feedback regarding regional foreign worker management at i-Tail Corporation Public Company Limited, a company that produces pet food, located on Kanchanawanit Road, Soi 2, Phawong Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District, Songkhla Province. On January 14, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Maruksriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Ms. Pannabha Chandraramya, Ambassador of Thailand to Israel, Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Kittithana Srisuriya, Minister Counselor (on Labour) and the Ministry of Labour’s executives, discussed official matters with Mr. Avi Dicter, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security in Jerusalem, Israel. Representatives from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel also attended. Mr. Avi Dicter thanked the Minister of Labour and his delegation for visiting Israel. Labour Minister Accelerates the Economy: Sends Thai Workers Abroad, Caring for Benefits After Returning Home

Mr. Phumipat Mueanchan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, reported that Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Minister of Labour, expedited the monitoring of Thai workers going to work abroad in order to generate income for the country and promote employment among Thais. From January to November 2024, over 86,000 Thais have been permitted to work abroad, sending back income through the Bank of Thailand amounting to 246,379 million Baht, which is considered a very high value. Currently, 144,617 Thais are working in 134 countries worldwide. The five countries with the most Thai workers are Taiwan, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Israel, and Malaysia, respectively. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson said that in addition to the income and benefits that Thai workers receive while working abroad, many people do not know how to apply for benefits when they return to Thailand, such as income tax refunds, old-age pensions, and claiming outstanding wages from employers. Many countries where Thai people work will provide these benefits according to their laws, especially Taiwan, which employs the most Thai workers.             On December 13, 2024, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, presided over the ceremony to assign policies and deploy the Special Task Force on Employment, Working Conditions, Forced Labor, and Child Exploitation Among Migrant Workers.             On November 18, 2024, at 13.30 hours local time in Sweden, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and Acting Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, the Social Security Advisory Board (No. 14), executives and relevant officials of the Social Security Office under the Ministry of Labour, met with executives of the Swedish Pension Agency in Stockholm, Sweden.           Mr. Phiphat said that the reason that he, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and the Social Security Advisory Board (No. 14) traveled to Sweden this time was to study and observe. He said that Funai (Thailand) Co., Ltd., located at 835 Moo 18, Ban Sap Muang, Pak Chong – Lam Sam Phung Road, Tambon Chan Thuek, Amphoe Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, is an establishment that produces radio, television and electrical equipment parts and sends them to the parent company in Japan. “Phiphat” Follows Through! Urgently Mobilizes 400 Workers to Clear Mud, Helping Locals Resume Work and Revive Mae Sai Economy, Chiang Rai
