On October 1, 2024, at 14.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, announced the Ministry of Labour’s policy and operational guidelines for the 2025 fiscal year to the media at the press conference room on the fifth floor of the Ministry of Labour. Permanent Secretary of Labour Commences Seminar to Enhance Integrated Spatial Management Efficiency in 2025

     On September 22, 2024, at 15.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, chaired the opening ceremony of the seminar to increase the efficiency of integrated spatial management in the 2025 fiscal year. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, and the Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Kornjirat Phongchansathorn joined in honour. On September 6, 2024, at 14.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, chaired the opening ceremony of the seminar project to drive the operation of labour volunteers. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, joined in honour. The Deputy Governor of Maha Sarakham Province, Ms. Pranee Wongbut, gave a welcome speech. Labour Minister Gives Speech to Send Off Thai Youths Participating in 47th WorldSkills Competition

On September 6, 2024, at 09.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, gave a speech to Thailand’s youth representatives who will travel to participate in the 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon or WorldSkills Lyon 2024, in France. The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Decha Phruekpattanarak, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives, joined the event at the Chatumongkol Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labor Building. The 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, or WorldSkills Lyon 2024, in France, is scheduled to take place between September 11 to 14, 2024. There are 59 categories and three demonstration categories in total, with Thailand competing in 19 categories. There are 22 Thai youth representatives participating in the competition, with 3 teams and 16 individuals.

The Permanent Secretary of Labour Clarifies the Determination of the Wage Formula is Not Specified in Section 87 of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541 After Five Wage Committee Members Complained that the 22nd Board Resolution was Unlawful in “Adjusting the Calculation Formula to 400 Baht.”

On July 9, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, spoke about the case of the 2nd Wage Committee and a group of five people from the Employers’ Confederation of Thai Trade and Industry who submitted a petition to the Ombudsman requesting an investigation into the performance of his duties as it was observed that the meeting minutes of the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 5/2024 on May 14, 2024, violated labour protection laws. This is because in the minutes of the meeting, there was a resolution to adjust the formula for calculating the new minimum wage to 400 Baht, and it was seen that the consideration of adjusting the said wage rate formula was a consideration that did not comply with Section 87 of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541. Labour Minister Concerned About Workplace Injuries Accelerates Safety Campaigns, Prepares to Organize a Big Event Drawing All Parties to Participate 

   The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, said that the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, was closely following the number of work-related dangers or illnesses. Over the past five years, the number of employees experiencing danger or illness from work decreased from 94,906 in 2019 to 81,509 in 2023, and from 2019 – 2023, Bangkok was the area where employees encountered the most danger. The causes of the more severe accidents are objects or things that cut or pierce. The organs that employees experienced the most significant dangers were fingers or thumbs. The age group of employees who suffered the most hazards was between 25 – 29 years. The type of business with the highest number of hazards was residential building construction.
