        On July 4, 2024, at 09.30 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, chaired the Ministry of Labour’s Executive Meeting No. 4/2024 to acknowledge the performance report in accordance with the orders of the Labour Minister. MOL Joins Forces with the Multidisciplinary Team on Intensive Training of Inspection Staff to Progress the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking in Thailand Towards Tier 1

     On July 2, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, presided over the opening ceremony of the training program for the training course to appoint officials in accordance with the law on the prevention and suppression of human trafficking in the 2024 fiscal year. Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 6

On June 28, 2024, at 09.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, gave a report before the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 6/2024 that took place at the Prasong Rananant Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. He said that today is the meeting to consider the appointment of the academic and screening subcommittee, and the subcommittee will consider the provincial minimum wage rate to fill vacant positions due to being appointed to a Member of the Senate (Senator). The committee consists of representatives of employers, employees, government, and relevant officials who attended the meeting. This meeting did not have any issues related to the minimum wage. After July 31, the numbers provided by the provinces will be compiled to evaluate if provinces want to increase the minimum wage and how they want to increase it.      On June 25, 2024, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, assigned the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Aree Krainara, and the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan to visit and encourage the first batch of Thai workers who will travel to work in the agricultural sector in Israel, after Thailand’s pause on sending workers to Israel.     The Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Aree Krainara, said that today, the Ministry of Labour is scheduled to send the first 100 Thai workers to Israel, part of the quota of 10,000 workers, under the “Thailand-Israel Cooperation on the Placement of Workers” (TIC). The workers traveled via a particular charter flight, El Al Israel Airlines, flight LY 084, with 40 people, departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand, at 16.25 hours, arriving at Ben-Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv at 23.00 hours local time. MOL Collaborates with Panyapiwat Institute to Organize Seminar on Creating Salary Structures in the Private Sector

          On June 25, 2024, at 09.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, chaired the opening ceremony of the 13th workshop on preparing salary structures in the private sector. The Director of the Wage Commission Office, Ms. Tuangsap Chaweerat, gave a report. Labour Minister Organizes Job Expo 2024, Offering Over 700,000 Position Vacancies, Emphasizing Support For Over 1 Million Thai Workers This Year

The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, reported that the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, has invited the public to join Thailand’s most fun income-generating job fair or Job Expo Thailand 2024 between June 28 to 30, 2024, from 11.00 to 21.00 hours at Halls 6 – 7, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. There will be 222 employers/establishments recruiting, offering over 700,000 job positions nationwide to support job applicants. The companies include Minor International, Huawei Technology (Thailand), Thai Airways International, Thai Namthip Corporation, Thai Beverages, and others. There will be 30 overseas employers/establishments offering over 100,000 overseas job positions in countries such as Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Poland, Malaysia, Portugal, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Israel. The most popular positions include construction, welders, the bicycle industry, foremen, and domestic workers, which have a relatively high wage rate.      On June 18, 2024, at 13.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Nantachai Panyasurarit, to attend the Executive Subcommittee Meeting for the 36th National Occupational Health and Safety Fair, 2024, No. 2/2024. Labour Minister Aiming to Cover 20 Million Independent Workers Under Social Security Section 40 To Take Care of Quality of Life in the Long Term

            The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, reported that the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, wants independent workers, which is approximately 20 million people, to have social security and receive the same benefits as workers in the system, especially social security protection under Section 40. If independent workers apply to be insured under Section 40, they will receive protection in up to five cases, including loss of income due to illness, disability, death, old age, and child support. There are options to consider as appropriate for the individuals, whether it is option 1, contributing 70 Baht per month; option 2, contributing 100 Baht per month; and option 3, which receives the highest benefits, contributing 300 Baht per month.             The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson said that this year, the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has organized the Social Security for Independent Workers Throughout Thailand Project, with the goal of organizing activities four regional activities and one in Bangkok, to bring knowledge and understanding about the benefits and protection from Social Security Section 40 to those who are self-employed, inviting these groups to apply to become insured under Section 40.
