Labour Minister Accelerates Proactive Screening in Samut Sakhon Establishments to Support MOPH in Assessing Relaxation of Measures in Maximum Control Areas

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin accelerated the follow up on the progress of the proactive Covid-19 screening for employees in establishments into the treatment process as required by the Ministry of Public Health. The initiative supports the Ministry of Public Health in assessing the situation to relax measures of maximum control areas.

          On January 25, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the progress of the proactive Covid-19 screening for the employees in establishments in Samut Sakhon. He said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, has shown concern for the workforce and all groups of people and has continued to implement government measures. For the Ministry of Labour, the Labour Minister has worked with relevant sectors and agencies in the area, including medical teams, health workers, and hospitals in the Social Security Office, to visit workplaces to provide PCR screening for employees exposed to the risk of Covid-19 infections, in establishments of the maximum control areas. Employees who are screened will know the results within 6-8 hours. If an infection is detected, the worker will have to go into the treatment process determined by the Ministry of Public Health.

          Mr. Suchart said that proactive Covid-19 screening measures establishments in Samut Sakhon, from January 9 – 25, 2021, have already screened 25,162 insured persons in workplaces within the province.

          “The follow up on the progress of the proactive Covid-19 screening for employees in establishments within Samut Sakhon has been accelerated as Samut Sakhon remain the provinces with the most patients. If the situation in the province is controlled faster, the outbreak will be managed better. The measures taken by the authorities are in line with the measures of the Ministry of Public Health and the Provincial Communicable Disease Committee,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
