On October 17, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the incident where a Myanmar worker fell into a plastic beater machine, causing the worker to die in Rayong. He said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, cares for employees who suffer from work hazards. In this case with the migrant worker who died, the government has offered full support as all workers are major cogs in driving the country’s economy. Workers that have come to work in Thailand legally will be protected according to human rights principles, in which the various benefits, especially social security, will provide the same protection and coverage as Thai workers.
Mr. Suchart said that he had instructed the departments under the Ministry of Labour in the area to be responsible for assistance so that the relatives of the deceased worker receive entitlements to protection benefits according to the law.
