On 29 October 2010, the Office of Labour Affairs of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel-Aviv went to Ramla which was located on Southern Israel to inspect 20 Thai labours who worked as orange farm workers. It was found that although workers had a decent working and living condition, they faced with wage uncertainty problem. Workers normally had an income of 40,000 Bath per month but during harvest season (November-April) their payment would depend on the amount of orange they picked, which was uncertain. In this regard, the Office of Labour Affairs would contact with the employer and Leebar Recruitment Company to address this problem. From the inspection, it was also found that workers with other nationalities including 8 Vietnamese, 4 Sudanese, and 15 Sri-Lankan worked in the orange farm along with Thai workers. These Sri-Lankan workers came to work for a short 6 month period under the cooperation project between Sri-Lanka and Israel. There was no violence being found among workers. After the inspection, the Office of Labour Affairs gave the workers flags and sport gears in order to boost their morale.
