There will be 222 employers/establishments recruiting, offering over 700,000 job positions nationwide to support job applicants. The companies include Minor International, Huawei Technology (Thailand), Thai Airways International, Thai Namthip Corporation, Thai Beverages, and others. There will be 30 overseas employers/establishments offering over 100,000 overseas job positions in countries such as Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Poland, Malaysia, Portugal, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Israel. The most popular positions include construction, welders, the bicycle industry, foremen, and domestic workers, which have a relatively high wage rate. Over the past five years, the number of employees experiencing danger or illness from work decreased from 94,906 in 2019 to 81,509 in 2023, and from 2019 – 2023, Bangkok was the area where employees encountered the most danger. The causes of the more severe accidents are objects or things that cut or pierce. The organs that employees experienced the most significant dangers were fingers or thumbs. The age group of employees who suffered the most hazards was between 25 – 29 years. The type of business with the highest number of hazards was residential building construction. On June 6, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, spoke about the overall labour situation based on the data of April 2024 by the Labour Economics Division under the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour. Currently, 11,857,864 workers are insured under the social security system. Insured persons under Section 33 increased by 1.70 percent compared to the same month of 2023, when there were 11,659,514 people, but a decrease of 0.21 percent compared to March 2024, when there were 11,882,607 people. Mr. Pairoj added that in Thailand’s unemployment situation, 228,840 unemployed people were registered in the social security system in April 2024. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, spoke about the progress in supporting Thai workers affected by the unrest in Israel. The Ministry of Labour has paid 50,000 Baht in aid under the relief project to 9,309 eligible people and their families out of the 9,384 applicants, representing 99.34 percent, for a total of 465,450,000 Baht. It has also paid money from the fund to help workers working abroad, from 9,892 people, from 11,101 people who applied, representing 97.93 percent, for a total of 144,270,000 Baht.
