Permanent Secretary Reports the Wage Committee Missing a Quorum of 2 Out of 3; New Meeting Scheduled on September 24

     On September 20, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, gave a report after the 22nd Wage Committee meeting No. 9/2024. He said that today’s meeting did not fail, but the quorum was not complete because representatives from the government sector did not attend the meeting. Two employee representatives did not participate in the meeting due to other engagements, resulting in a quorum of 2 out of 3. According to the regulations, there must be ten or more attendees. Today, the meeting presented information on the employment conditions of employees to the meeting to inform them of how many businesses currently employ employees who pay a wage of 400 Baht and what impact it has on Thai and foreign workers. According to data from the Social Security Office, if the minimum wage is 400 Baht, approximately 1 million foreign workers and 4 million Thai workers will benefit.      On September 19, 2024, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, and the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Surasak Pancharoenvorakul, presided over the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in promoting employment for students during the school break. The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, gave a report. The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives joined to honour of the event. Permanent Secretary of Labour Receives 1,000 Rice Bags from Executives of the AISIN Group for the MOL to Help Flood Victims in the Northern Provinces

On September 19, 2024, at 13.15 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, received 1,000 bags of rice from AISIN Group executives led by the President of Aisin Group, ASEAN Headquarters, Mr. Noriyuki Kitasato, President of Aisin Powertrain Thailand Co., Ltd., Mr. Masahiro Kamei, Executive Vice President of Aisin Powertrain Thailand Co., Ltd., Mr. Nattakul Mukda, and Director of Human Resources, Aisin Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., Mr. Narong Nosakul, who brought rice to the Ministry of Labour to help flood victims in the northern provinces. The Ministry of Labour’s senior executives received the rice at the lobby on the ground floor of the Ministry of Labour.

Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins Labour Minister’s Team to Send Relief Bags to Help Flood Victims

On September 16, 2024, at 15.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, participated in delivering 1,000 relief bags to help flood victims in Chiang Rai Province. The Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, chaired the delivery of relief bags, and senior executives from the Ministry of Labour joined the event in the lobby on the ground floor of the Ministry of Labour. The delivery of the relief bags is a result of cooperation between agencies under the Ministry of Labour and the private sector, which have jointly provided consumer goods to be packed in relief bags to help flood victims. All relief bags will be transported by a 6-wheel truck from the Social Security Office to the Ministry of Labour in the Chiang Rai Government Center for agencies under the Ministry of Labour to help flood victims in Chiang Rai Province. The Ministry of Labour has collaborated with a network of private-sector businesses to deliver the first batch of consumer goods, rice, dried food, and medical supplies. The second and third batches will then be delivered to help flood victims.

Labour Minister Mobilizes Personnel in 8 Flooded Provinces via Teleconference to Provide Immediate Assistance

 The Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, chaired the meeting to monitor the flood situation in the northern provinces via video conference. The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, the Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Kornjirat Phongchansathorn, and related agencies attended the meeting at the Saengsingkaew Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour Building. Labour Minister Concerns About Flooding in Chiang Rai Emphasizes for Agencies to Mobilize Personnel to Support Victims

The Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, spoke about the flash floods and forest runoff resulting from mass rainfall in the northern provinces, especially Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Tak provinces. The three provinces are currently experiencing flooding, affecting 22,841 businesses, 280,203 employees, and 17,941 households. He expressed his concern about the people and said that he is closely following the situation. He has instructed agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the flood-affected provinces to work with the agencies in the provinces to provide urgent assistance to the people. On the Ministry of Labour’s part, he has instructed the Permanent Secretary of Labour to assign the provincial labour offices and agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the flooded areas to provide full support to various agencies in each province. Labour Minister Establishes Standards for Assessors and Issues Certificates for Muay Thai Teachers at Assessment Centers Nationwide

On September 5, 2024, the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Aree Krainara, received the policy of the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, to chair the opening ceremony of the training for labour skill standards assessors in the Muay Thai trainer branch. Those who pass this training will be the people who will act as judges or evaluators for those who will become boxing teachers. Most of them are in the boxing industry. MOL Delivers Relief Bags Forwarding Kindness to Support Flood Victims

On September 2, 2024, at 16.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, chaired the handover of 300 relief bags to the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, to forward the generosity to distribute relief supplies to the people affected by the floods. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Mr. Somphon Kwangkaew, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, and Assistants to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Kornjirat Phongchansathorn and Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin joined the event at the lobby on the 1st floor of the Ministry of Labour. Labour Minister Delighted with One Tambon, One Independent Career Group Progress, Invites People to Join the Fair this Week

The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, as the chairman of the working group driving the development of independent career potential under the “One Tambon, One Independent Career Group” policy, said that the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, is satisfied with the continuous progress of the work results. On August 15, 2024, at 13.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, welcomed the President of Electric Vehicles (Thailand) Public Company Limited, Dr. Sakda Siripatsopon, and the delegation on the occasion of a meeting to discuss the recruitment of electric vehicle drivers to support the expansion of electric vehicle projects in various areas. The meeting discussed the development of a curriculum to build skills for electric vehicle drivers to develop personnel who are electric vehicle drivers to have the knowledge and skills appropriate to perform their duties efficiently, as well as to raise the standards of electric vehicle drivers in the country.
