PM Shows Concern and Instructs Labour Minister to Assign Inspector-General to Transport Body of Deceased Thai Worker from Oman to Their Home in Sakon Nakhon

          On June 8, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, to travel to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan Province to receive the body of Ms. Suparat Nganlasam, a Thai woman who died in an accident after falling from a four-story building in Oman on May 27. According to Ms. Palida Ruamkham, Minister Counselor on Labour at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi said that the Labour Office has informed the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat that the body of the deceased would be delivered yesterday (June 7, 2022) by Oman Air flight WY 817, departing from Muscat at 21.10 hour and arrive in Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport today (June 8, 2022) at 06.20 hours. Ms. Suparat had traveled on a tourist visa to work as a massage therapist in Oman. MOL Working Group Meets to Follow Up on Implementation of National Labour Day Requests for 2022

          On June 2, 2022, at 13.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, chaired the working group’s meeting to follow up on the implementation of the National Labour Day requests for 2022. The meeting took place at the Prof. Nikhom Chantravitun meeting room, 5th floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare. The meeting acknowledged the Ministry of Labour’s Order No. 217/2022, dated April 29, 2022, regarding the appointment of a working group to monitor the implementation of the National Labour Day requests for 2022. Additionally, the National Labour Day 2022 Organizing Committee made eight requests for National Labour Day 2022, submitted to the Prime Minister (General Prayuth Chan-ocha) on the National Labour Day Year 2022, on May 1, 2022. Labour Minister and Two Director-Generals Visit the CI and PIPO Centers on Migrant Worker Management

          On May 26, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, and the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General Mr. Niyom Songkaew, visited the operations of the Port In-Port Out (PIPO) Control Center in Ranong Province. Deputy Governor of Ranong Province, Mr. Nopsit Udomsuwankul, welcomed the team at the Ranong Fisheries Checkpoint. They visited the center for the consideration of permission to stay in the Kingdom, permission to work, and the issuance of a certificate of identity (CI) in Ranong Province, to observe the service process and follow up on the work of the government officials within the center.           Mr. Suchart said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, is focused on driving policies to prevent and solve human trafficking problems in labour, including the systematic management of migrant workers to resolve labour shortages. Labour Minister Awards Blue Factory Establishment Certificates as the Private Sector Shows Appreciation for the “Factory Sandbox” Project to Support Employment and Business Continuity

On May 20, 2022, the Labour Minister  Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Mr. Noriyuki Kitasato, President of Aishin Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., and his team, on meeting the Labour Minister to receive a certificate for the blue factory establishment through the the “Factory Sandbox Project.” The certificate was awarded to Aishin Corporation, a subsidiary of automobile manufacturers. At present, there are ten affiliated companies and 14 affiliated companies in Thailand, with 13,129 employees. On this occasion, the Labour Minister also received 2,000 bags of rice weighing 5kg each from the company’s representatives. The donation is to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and alleviate suffering. This is beneficial to the workforce, an important part of driving Thailand’s business and economy. MOL Working Group on the Study of Establishing a Risk Insurance Fund and Consideration to Law Amendments on Compensation Payment and Tax Exemption on Receiving Retirement Compensation Meets for No. 2/2020

          On May 17, 2022, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswon, chaired the subcommittee meeting on the study of agreements for those who have rights under the law on social security to use the right to receive public health services under Section 10 no. 1/2022. The meeting acknowledged the results of the working group’s study on establishing a risk insurance fund and the study on the amendment of the law on compensation and tax suspension. They also jointly considered the amendments to the law on compensation payments and tax breaks in the case of receiving retirement compensation. MOL and Ambassador of Bahrain to Thailand Host Discussions to Strengthen Labour Relations

          On May 17, 2022, at 10.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to welcome H.E. Ms. Muna Abbas Mahmood Radhi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Thailand. She met with the Labour Minister to discuss labour market expansions in Bahrain, the visa facilitation for Thai workers, measures taken by Bahrain to prevent and resolve illegal labour problems, and awareness among businessmen and investors to operate in Thailand. Labour Minister Awards Plaques of Honour to 31 Organizations in the Skills Development Network

Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development awards plaques of honour in skill development networks to 31 organizations in thanks for developing the industry’s workforce amid the COVID-19 situation.           On April 22, 2022, at 11.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the award of plaques to the skill development network of 31 organizations to honor the skill development network that supports the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development to carry out skill development to achieve the goal amid the COVID-19 situation. Labour Minister Joins Economic Team Announcing Measures to Support the Workforce and People from Ukraine-Russian Conflict Impacts

          On March 24, 2022, at the Government Houses, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined the press conference on measures to help people amid the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, presided over the press conference. Mr. Suchart said that following the conflict, Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has concerns for the people and all workers. Therefore, each agency has to be tasked to formulate measures to help the people as soon as possible. Under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, measures have been set to help reduce the impact on the people amid the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and reduce the people’s expenses by reducing contributions for both employers and employers insured persons for three months. 11.2 million insured persons under Section 33 will reduce their contributions from 5 percent to 1 percent. Labour Minister Concerned for Workers, Assigns Assistant to Visit and Encourage Construction Workers in Case of Unpaid Wages in Sisaket

          On March 21, 2022, at 10.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Pornsak Charoenprasert, and the Labour Minister’s Advisor Mr. Thanakrit Jirivipakorn, to visit the area, meet and encourage workers at the Sisaket Feed Mill (CPF) and witness the payment of unpaid accrued wages for 173 construction workers. Today, 91 workers were paid. This group was the first batch, where the total payment was 363,267 Baht. For the remaining 82 people, Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL or CPF, with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour, Sisaket Province, will be the witness.           In this regard, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin had concerns for the workers. He instructed agencies under the Ministry of Labour to assist workers who have suffered, following the framework of authority. Permanent Secretary of Labour Commences Open House for the Wellness Corporate Nation-Building Project to Promote Workers’ Quality of Life

            On March 17, 2022, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, to chare the opening of the Open House for the Wellness Corporate Nation-Building (Wellness CNB) project. Prof. Dr. Kriengsak Charoenwongsak (Dr. Dan), President of the Nation-Building Institute, gave a lecture on “the Wellness CNB award for sustainable business creation with a model wellness organization.” Over 100 organizations are interested in participating in onsite and online projects. The occasion took place at the Lexus Showroom on Sukhumvit.             The Permanent Secretary of Labour commended the Nation-Building Institute and students of the Wellness Entrepreneurship Leadership Program for Nation Creation which gives importance to creating good quality people with the ideology to build the nation.          On March 17, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, and the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Mr. Sakdinat Sonthisakyothin, to visit Bang Khla District in Chachoengsao Province.           On March 16, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitvong, chaired the commencement of the workshop on the preparation of manpower development plans at the provincial level in the central provinces (including the eastern and western regions) and the southern provinces.
