On June 6, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, spoke about the overall labour situation based on the data of April 2024 by the Labour Economics Division under the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour. Currently, 11,857,864 workers are insured under the social security system. Insured persons under Section 33 increased by 1.70 percent compared to the same month of 2023, when there were 11,659,514 people, but a decrease of 0.21 percent compared to March 2024, when there were 11,882,607 people. Mr. Pairoj added that in Thailand’s unemployment situation, 228,840 unemployed people were registered in the social security system in April 2024.
