            On January 11, 2025, at 08.45 hours, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and Mrs. Thiamkhae Thapchaiyut, President of the Ministry of Labour’s Housewives Association, presided over the ceremony to award educational scholarships provided by the Ministry of Labour’s Housewives Association for 2025. Twelve scholarships were awarded to children of civil servants, permanent employees, and government officials under the Ministry of Labour on the occasion of National Children’s Day 2025. Labour Minister Commences MOL Children’s Day 2025: “Promoting Thai Children Today as the Future Workforce,” Providing Scholarships to Over 10,000 Children of Workers Nationwide

On January 11, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, chaired the scholarship award ceremony on the occasion of National Children’s Day 2025 by the Ministry of Labour. The Labour Minister gave an opening speech, gave gifts to children, and visited activity booths organized by agencies under the Ministry of Labour and business establishments. Mr. Siraphop Duangsodsri, Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Aree Krainara, the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, and Mr. Phuchong Worasri, assigned to the Office of the Prime Minister and currently serving at the Ministry of Labour, also joined the occasion. On January 10, 2025, at 11.00 hours, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, chaired the opening ceremony of the brainstorming workshop to draft a (draft) human resources development plan to support increased income and workforce productivity for 2025 – 2027 (Master Plan). On December 27, 2024, at 07.00 hours, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and Mrs. Thiamkhae Thapchaiyut, President of the Ministry of Labour’s Housewives Association, presented gifts on the occasion of the New Year Festival 2025. The gifts aim to encourage the 172 security officers and cleaning staff of the Ministry of Labour. Workers Celebrate: Wage Committee Approves 400 Baht Minimum Wage in 4 Provinces and 1 District Effective January 1, 2025

On December 23, 2024, at 18.30 hours, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, gave a report after the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 11/2024. The meeting had government representatives, employer representatives, employee representatives, and relevant officials attend the Prasong Rananant Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour Building. He said that the Wage Committee meeting considered and approved the increase in the minimum wage by 7 to 55 Baht per day (an average of 2.9 percent), divided into 17 rates, which were mainly considered based on the cost of living and economic structure, with the highest rate being 400 Baht per day and the lowest rate being 337 Baht per day, as follows: 1. The minimum wage rate is adjusted to 400 Baht per day in 4 provinces and 1 district, including Phuket, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong and Koh Samui District, Surat Thani Province. 2. The Permanent Secretary of Labour Chairs Meeting on the SSO’s 3-Year Workforce Plan Project (2025 – 2027)

On October 9, 2024, at 09.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, chaired the meeting on the 3-year workforce plan project (2025 – 2027) of the Social Security Office. The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Labour Inspector-General, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, as Acting Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, along with Social Security Office officials. The occasion took place at the Prasong Rananant Conference Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour Building. The purpose of the meeting was to study and analyze the ecosystem, business models, and future challenges to be used as information for the Social Security Office’s workforce planning in the next three years. The meeting also proposed human resource management strategies that support readiness during the transition period by having an appropriate quantity and quality of personnel to support roles in the future and to create a 3-year workforce plan that is consistent with the mission and strategy of the Social Security Office, as well as to study, analyze, support, and jointly review the format and guidelines for organizational restructuring.

Permanent Secretary of Labour Commences Seminar to Enhance Integrated Spatial Management Efficiency in 2025

     On September 22, 2024, at 15.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, chaired the opening ceremony of the seminar to increase the efficiency of integrated spatial management in the 2025 fiscal year. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, and the Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Kornjirat Phongchansathorn joined in honour. The Permanent Secretary of Labour Clarifies the Determination of the Wage Formula is Not Specified in Section 87 of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541 After Five Wage Committee Members Complained that the 22nd Board Resolution was Unlawful in “Adjusting the Calculation Formula to 400 Baht.”

On July 9, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, spoke about the case of the 2nd Wage Committee and a group of five people from the Employers’ Confederation of Thai Trade and Industry who submitted a petition to the Ombudsman requesting an investigation into the performance of his duties as it was observed that the meeting minutes of the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 5/2024 on May 14, 2024, violated labour protection laws. This is because in the minutes of the meeting, there was a resolution to adjust the formula for calculating the new minimum wage to 400 Baht, and it was seen that the consideration of adjusting the said wage rate formula was a consideration that did not comply with Section 87 of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541. MOL Meets to Clarify the Action Plan on the National Referral Mechanism, Litigation Management, and Assistance for Victims of Human Trafficking and Forced Labour or Services B.E. 2565.

         On May 11, 2022, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan chaired the meeting to clarify the Action Plan on the National Referral Mechanism, Litigation Management, and Assistance for Victims of Human Trafficking and Forced Labour or Service B.E. 2565, which took place at the Santi Maitree Building, Government Houses. The Minister of Social Development and Human Security, Mr. Juti Krairiksh; Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin; and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai clarified the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on seeking indications for persons with reasonable grounds to suspect that they may be victims of labour exploitation, forced labour or labour trafficking, following the Anti-Human Trafficking Act B.E. 2551, and amendments in Section 6/1 to clarify the guidelines and importance of the SOP to officials under the Ministry of Labour in all 76 provinces. The screening form Ror.Bor. 1 was used for labour screening, which is an important part of the screening for indications and circumstances of suspected forced labour, and in the collection of evidence to forward information to the multi-disciplinary teams for further screening. Labour Minister and Minister of Industry Visits Covid-19 Vaccination Center for Section 33 Insured Persons at Thai Football Factory and Reports 250,000 People Vaccinated in 7 Days Promoting Herd Immunity for Factory Workers

           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin and Minister of Industry Mr. Suriya Chuengroongruangkit visited and encouraged insured persons under Section 33 in Bangkok to get Covid-19 vaccinations at the Thai Sporting Goods Football Factory Co., Ltd. on Chalong Krung Road. For the six days of vaccination services, from June 7-11 and 14-15, a total of 254,631 people has been vaccinated.            On June 16, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin and Minister of Industry Mr. Suriya Chuengroongruangkit visited the Covid-19 Vaccination Center for Section 33 Insured Persons in Bangkok at the Thai Sporting Goods Football Factory Co., Ltd. on Chalong Krung Road. The center is under the responsibility of the Bangkok Social Security Office Area 10, with the ability to vaccinate 1,000 people daily. The site has a team of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists from Nawamin 1 Hospital, as the operator.
