On March 18, 2021, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the Maritime Labor Committee’s meeting, following the Marine Labour Act B.E. 2564 No. 1/2021. The meeting considered drafting the Ministry of Labour’s regulations on the qualifications and prohibited characteristics in the appointment of qualified committee members and representatives of vessel owners and the draft amendment to the marine labour law in relation to the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare. It also received comments from the International Labour Organization (ILO) in presenting the first report. The Labour Minister showed concern for the 25 Thai workers returning from Libya, upon request for assistance from the embassy to return to Thailand due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Suvarnabhumi Immigration Checkpoint was urged to facilitate the workers’ return, together with agencies in the area to meet, visit, encourage, and help workers’ families. On September 22, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the progress of the Ministry of Labour, which received a report by Commander Lieutenant Vittavat Koodprasert, Minister Counselor (on Labour) from the Labour Office in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), that 25 Thai workers were working in Libya that previously requested help from the Royal Thai Embassy in Rome. The request was regarding their return to Thailand, from fear of contracting Covid-19 from Libya’s pandemic situation. Mr. Suchart also spoke about the Labour Office report in Riyadh, that all 25 Thai workers have arrived at the airport in Doha, Qatar, and will board a connecting flight on Qatar Airways today (September 22, 2020) on flight QR836 at 3.10 hours. On July 3, 2020, at 09.00 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Surapol Ploysook presided over the closing ceremony of the Training Course on Civil Service Training for the Ministry of Labour’s 25th batch of new officials, and awarded epaulettes at the Sida Activity Resort. Nakhon Nayok. The training is a course for good government officials, following the guidelines set by the OCSC, to instill a good civil servant philosophy and develop a working network. It focuses on learning academic content from speakers and experienced experts, including practical implementation both inside and outside the classroom. The training began from June 22 to July 3, 2020, including a 12-day training period. There were 65 new government officials from all departments under the Ministry of Labour. On June 22, 2020, at 09.00 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Surapol Ploysook presided over the commencement ceremony of the training course on the development of the Ministry of Labour’s government officials, batch 25. The session took place at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour building. The said training aims to instill the philosophy of being a good government official and develop skills required for civil service practice. The training also aims to promote moral and ethical practices, teamwork, creating good rapport among colleagues, and allow participants to develop their working network. The program focuses on learning from both experiences of the expert speakers and study hands-on practices, in and out of the classroom. The Labour Minister gave a press conference on the delivery of Thai youths to participate in the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019, which will be held between August 22 to 27 in Kazan, Russia. On November 26, 2018, Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha listened to the results from the establishment of the Job Ready Center, which was presented by Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s senior executives, which took place at the Banchakarn Building 1, Government Houses. The Job Ready Center was established by the Ministry of Labour in response to the 20-year national development strategy on human resources development to increase the competitiveness of the country towards Thailand 4.0. Eleven Job Ready Centers were open on July 19, 2018, together nationwide, centrally and regionally. The centers serve to provide guidance that suit the abilities and interests of users, assess readiness and professional aptitude, provide job matching between job seekers / employers both domestically and internationally, develop skills by providing training in various courses that are both short and long term, including protection and welfare and applications into the social security system to create a solid foundation for life. July 17, 2018. Mr. Suchart Pornchaiwisetkul, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Employment, presided over the opening of a workshop on Human Resources Development Strategy of the Department of Employment, 2019 – 2021 at Bangkok Cha Da Hotel, Bangkok.
