Labour Minister Meets the Ambassador of the Philippines to Study the Skills of Foreign Workers and Discuss the MOU to Protect the Right to Work in Thailand

On September 17, 2024, at 13.30 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Thailand, Mrs. Millicent Cruz-Paredes, and the delegation on the occasion of a meeting. On September 2, 2024, at 16.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, chaired the handover of 300 relief bags to the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, to forward the generosity to distribute relief supplies to the people affected by the floods. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Mr. Somphon Kwangkaew, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, and Assistants to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Kornjirat Phongchansathorn and Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin joined the event at the lobby on the 1st floor of the Ministry of Labour. On August 19, 2024, at 13.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, received the award for the best government agency at the ministry level in facilitating the business sector, the “Sampao – Nawathong” award for 2024. Committee member and Secretary-General of the Nichai Phatthana Foundation, Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, presided over awarding the prize. Labour Minister Instructs Resolution to Chinese Investors’ Outstanding Wage Payments to 700 Myanmar Workers

  The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, said that the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, has instructed the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare and related agencies to follow up on the resolution of the case of 700 Myanmar migrant workers who gathered to demand unpaid wages from their Chinese employers in the Rojana Industrial Estate, Prachin Buri Province on August 16. Initial investigations by the Ministry of Labour found that the problem was caused by the delay in the inspection process and the international money transfer from the parent company in China. Labour inspectors and company representatives discussed and paid employees 500 Baht each to alleviate their hardships on August 17, 2024. The company promised to improve financial supervision by paying wages in cash and having company representatives oversee them systematically, starting from August onwards.
