            On January 11, 2025, at 08.45 hours, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and Mrs. Thiamkhae Thapchaiyut, President of the Ministry of Labour’s Housewives Association, presided over the ceremony to award educational scholarships provided by the Ministry of Labour’s Housewives Association for 2025. Twelve scholarships were awarded to children of civil servants, permanent employees, and government officials under the Ministry of Labour on the occasion of National Children’s Day 2025. On January 11, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, chaired the scholarship award ceremony on the occasion of National Children’s Day 2025 by the Ministry of Labour. On January 10, 2025, at 11.00 hours, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, chaired the opening ceremony of the brainstorming workshop to draft a (draft) human resources development plan to support increased income and workforce productivity for 2025 – 2027 (Master Plan). Labour Minister Mourns Thais Who Died in Korean Plane Runway Crash: Permanent Secretary Instructs 5 Labour Leaders to Visit Relatives and Take Care of Social Security Benefits

            Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, expressed his condolences for the incident where Jeju Airlines flight 7C 2216, traveling from Bangkok to Jeollanam-do, Republic of Korea, had an accident while landing. The plane’s wheels did not deploy, causing the plane to skid along the runway and catch fire. The incident occurred yesterday morning at approximately 09.07 hours local time. On the Ministry of Labour’s part, the Labour Minister received a report from Ms. Sirirat Srichat, Assistant Labour Attaché at the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The report said that the airline was carrying 181 passengers, 175 of whom were passengers and 6 crew members. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that there were 179 fatalities, of which 2 were Thai passengers. The first was Ms. Jongluck Duangmanee, aged 45, from Udon Thani Province, who was insured under Section 39. Her beneficiaries are entitled to receive a retirement benefit of 109,751.28 Baht (excluding interest), a death benefit according to the period of contributions, and the funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht. On December 27, 2024, at 07.00 hours, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and Mrs. Thiamkhae Thapchaiyut, President of the Ministry of Labour’s Housewives Association, presented gifts on the occasion of the New Year Festival 2025. The gifts aim to encourage the 172 security officers and cleaning staff of the Ministry of Labour. Workers Celebrate: Wage Committee Approves 400 Baht Minimum Wage in 4 Provinces and 1 District Effective January 1, 2025

On December 23, 2024, at 18.30 hours, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, gave a report after the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 11/2024. The meeting had government representatives, employer representatives, employee representatives, and relevant officials attend the Prasong Rananant Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour Building. He said that the Wage Committee meeting considered and approved the increase in the minimum wage by 7 to 55 Baht per day (an average of 2.9 percent), divided into 17 rates, which were mainly considered based on the cost of living and economic structure, with the highest rate being 400 Baht per day and the lowest rate being 337 Baht per day, as follows: 1. The minimum wage rate is adjusted to 400 Baht per day in 4 provinces and 1 district, including Phuket, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong and Koh Samui District, Surat Thani Province. 2. On December 5, 2024,  Labour Minister Phipat Ratchakitprakarn visited flood-affected areas in Phatthalung Province to deliver relief kits to informal workers, self-employed individuals, and residents impacted by the disaster. The visit was joined by Mr. Kongsakul Chantrach, Deputy Governor of Phatthalung Province, acting as Governor; Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathien, Chairperson of the Minister’s Advisory Committee; Mr. Phuchong Warasri from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat Office; Mr. Phumipat Muenchan, Labour Ministry Spokesperson; and other senior officials, including department directors and provincial Labour Ministry representatives. The distribution occurred at four locations: Village Hall, Village No. 11, Lam Pam Subdistrict; Multipurpose Hall, Ban Khlong Khut, Village No.8, Han Pho Subdistrict, Khao Chai Son District; the mosque in Hat Khao Tao East; and the multipurpose building at Koh Mak Subdistrict Administrative Organization, totaling 2,000 relief kits. Minister of Labour Heads South to Aid Flood-Affected Workers, December 3–5

On December 1, 2024, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, outlined measures to assist those affected by flooding in southern provinces. The Ministry of Labour, under the urgent directive of Permanent Secretary Boonsong Thapchaiyut, has already dispatched over 500 survival kits to affected areas, with an additional 2,500 kits scheduled for delivery tomorrow, December 2. From December 3 to 5, the minister will personally visit flood-hit communities in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Yala, and Hat Yai. The mission will then extend to Songkhla, Phatthalung, and Satun, with senior officials from the ministry also deploying to Trang, Pattani, and Narathiwat. Key activities will include: 1. Distributing survival kits. 2. Providing occupational support, compensating employees for lost income, and assisting business operators. 3. Supporting post-flood recovery efforts, such as repairing electrical appliances, housing, motorcycles, and small agricultural machinery. “If any southern communities remain underserved, please notify us so the Permanent Secretary can direct the local labour offices to take action,” Phiphat said. “We will employ the ‘Chiang Rai Model’ to expedite recovery efforts, helping affected individuals return to work. The Permanent Secretary of Labour Chairs Meeting on the SSO’s 3-Year Workforce Plan Project (2025 – 2027)

On October 9, 2024, at 09.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, chaired the meeting on the 3-year workforce plan project (2025 – 2027) of the Social Security Office. The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Labour Inspector-General, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, as Acting Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, along with Social Security Office officials. The occasion took place at the Prasong Rananant Conference Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour Building. The purpose of the meeting was to study and analyze the ecosystem, business models, and future challenges to be used as information for the Social Security Office’s workforce planning in the next three years. The meeting also proposed human resource management strategies that support readiness during the transition period by having an appropriate quantity and quality of personnel to support roles in the future and to create a 3-year workforce plan that is consistent with the mission and strategy of the Social Security Office, as well as to study, analyze, support, and jointly review the format and guidelines for organizational restructuring.

Labour Minister Leads Team to Send Relief Bags to Help the Flood Crisis and Mobilize Networks to Prepare for Repairs of Homes, Electrical Appliances, and Occupational Assistance via 1506

On September 16, 2024, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, chaired the handover of the first batch of additional relief bags to be transported to help flood victims in Chiang Rai Province. The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, and the Ministry of Labour’s senior executives joined the event in the lobby on the ground floor. Mr. Phiphat said that due to the flood situation in many provinces in both the North and the Northeast, the Ministry of Labour is concerned about the lives of our fellow citizens, as well as personnel and labour networks.
