Permanent Secretary Welcomes 22 Thai Workers Returning from Israel After Completion of Employment Term, with 9 Additional Requests for Repatriation

June 23, 2025, 20.00 hours – Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, together with Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Labour, and Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and accompanying officials, welcomed and extended encouragement to 22 Thai workers who were employed by Chemo Aharon Ltd. in Israel. These workers, engaged in the industrial sector under two-year contracts, were part of a short-term project that has now concluded, leading to their return to Thailand. The Permanent Secretary stated that these workers were originally scheduled to return to Thailand on June 16, 2025, but due to the unusual and unstable situation, their return was delayed. The company, Chemo Aharon Ltd., arranged return flights and covered all expenses for the workers, including airfare, visa fees, meals, and ground transportation to Amman Airport. Labour Minister Assigns “Trai Thep Phithak” to Join Forces with Security Agencies in Crack Down on Illegal Foreigners Taking Jobs Reserved for Thais in MBK; 22 Found. Reiterates Legal Action with No Exception

On February 21, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, assigned Mr. Pichet Thongphan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, to lead the special task force “Trai Thep Phithak” to inspect the work of illegal foreign workers and human trafficking at MBK. Twenty-two foreign workers were found in jobs reserved for Thais, 20 of whom were from Myanmar, one from Syria, and one from India. This search was an integrated collaboration between the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour, the Department of Employment, and the Royal Thai Police, with Pathum Wan Police Station supporting the mission. The officers took the foreign workers to Pathum Wan Police Station for legal proceedings. Mr. Pichet Thongphan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, said that today’s inspection of foreign workers by the Trai Thep Phithak Task Force is in line with the policy of Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, who has strict regulations on foreign workers in Thailand.      On September 19, 2024, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, and the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Surasak Pancharoenvorakul, presided over the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in promoting employment for students during the school break. The Permanent Secretary of Labour Clarifies the Determination of the Wage Formula is Not Specified in Section 87 of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541 After Five Wage Committee Members Complained that the 22nd Board Resolution was Unlawful in “Adjusting the Calculation Formula to 400 Baht.”

On July 9, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, spoke about the case of the 2nd Wage Committee and a group of five people from the Employers’ Confederation of Thai Trade and Industry who submitted a petition to the Ombudsman requesting an investigation into the performance of his duties as it was observed that the meeting minutes of the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 5/2024 on May 14, 2024, violated labour protection laws. This is because in the minutes of the meeting, there was a resolution to adjust the formula for calculating the new minimum wage to 400 Baht, and it was seen that the consideration of adjusting the said wage rate formula was a consideration that did not comply with Section 87 of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541. Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 6

On June 28, 2024, at 09.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, gave a report before the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 6/2024 that took place at the Prasong Rananant Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. He said that today is the meeting to consider the appointment of the academic and screening subcommittee, and the subcommittee will consider the provincial minimum wage rate to fill vacant positions due to being appointed to a Member of the Senate (Senator). The committee consists of representatives of employers, employees, government, and relevant officials who attended the meeting. This meeting did not have any issues related to the minimum wage. After July 31, the numbers provided by the provinces will be compiled to evaluate if provinces want to increase the minimum wage and how they want to increase it. The minimum wage consideration timeline is set to July 31. The consideration of the sub-provinces will be sent to a larger sub-group by July 31.           On December 14, 2022, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, received the award for the best government agency at the ministry level in facilitating the business sector, the “Sampao-Navathong” award 2022. The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Wissanu Krea-ngam, presided over the award presentation at the Auditorium on the 7th floor, Building 23, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Vibhavadi Road, Din Daeng, Bangkok.           The award for the best government agencies in facilitating the business sector, the “Sampao-Navathong” award for 2022, was organized by the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand. MOL Joins the National Climate Change Policy Committee Meeting No. 4/2022

           On December 7, 2022, at 10.46 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, to join the National Climate Change Policy Committee Meeting No. 4/2022 via Zoom Cloud Meetings. Labour Minister Assigns Spokesperson to Lead Team to Donate Education and Sports Equipment in Thai PBS’s “Giving Warmth, Love and Care, for 2022” Project to Support Poor Schools

            On December 6, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Nantachai Panyasurarit, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives donated winter blankets, sweaters, school uniforms, teaching equipment, sports equipment, consumer goods, and general items. Representatives from private sector executives from Thai Football Factory Sporting Goods Co., Ltd. (FBT), Bai Li Enterprise Co., Ltd., and Thai Stanley Electric Public Company Limited, jointly delivered the donations to the Thai PBS television station.
