Labour Minister Delighted as Thai Youths Win 22 Medals at ASEAN Competition, Reinforcing the Potential of Thailand’s Workforce

September 1, 2025, at 08.30 hours – Mr. Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit, Labour Minister, presented certificates of honour and cash prizes to young competitors, along with plaques of appreciation to supporters of the 14th ASEAN Skills Competition, held in the Republic of the Philippines.

Mr. Jakkrapong Sumetchotimetha, Advisor to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surasit Nitiwuttiworrak, Secretary to the Labour Minister, Mr Sutthikiat Weerakitpanich, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary and Acting Permanent Secretary of Labour, Acting Second Lieutenant Somsak Promdam, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Krirkrai Nasamoyon, Legal Advisor, Mr. Nattawut Phatprayoon, Labour Academic Advisor, Mr. Sakdanat Sontisakdyothin, Assistant Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Decha Pruksapatnarak, Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, along with senior executives from the Ministry of Labour also joined the ceremony which took place at the Ballroom Wing, Bangkok Palace Hotel, Ratchathewi District, Bangkok

Mr. Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit, Labour Minister, said, “I would like to extend my congratulations to all medal recipients and commend the 34 young competitors, along with the 29 experts, who have given their utmost effort. This achievement highlights the talent and capability of Thai youth, whose skills are second to none, bringing home a total of 22 medals for Thailand.”

These included:

5 gold medals:

  1. Nakharin Jaroonpunvanich, in Cooking, was also awarded Best of Nation.
  2. Patcharamol Limthong, in Restaurant Service.
  3. Thanapol Thawinmat, in Wall and Floor Tiling.
  4. Piyankul Marasamee and Mr. Teerapat Techachompuwet, in Mechatronics (team).
  5. Khanathip Korsanthia and Mr. Siraphop Kraikhum, in Industry 4.0 (team).

4 silver medals:

  1. Teerapong Janied, in Wall and Floor Tiling.
  2. Ratchanon Tipruecha, in Welding Technology.
  3. Sakrin Sangkanuch, in Hairdressing.
  4. Nanthathorn Jomsilp and Pol. Sub-Lt. Kornwitch Naikratok, in Cyber Security (team).

3 bronze medals:

  1. Sitthikan Luangna, in Cabinetmaking.
  2. Tharathep Kaewmongkol, in Cabinetmaking.
  3. Thanwa Jitpan, in Hairdressing.

10 medals for excellence:

  1. Thitiwat Chusup, in Web Technology.
  2. Teeradech Sujindakool, in Web Technology.
  3. Anuwat Bunkhontod, in Electrical Installations.
  4. Sorawit Kengthanyakorn, in Mechanical Engineering CAD.
  5. Natthakorn Homchit, in Graphic Design Technology.
  6. Sarun Ekbusay, in 3D Game Design.
  7. Bussakorn Chiamsakul, in Cooking.
  8. Watchara Malasri and Mr. Suwijak Chakwachoti, in Mobile Robotics (team).
  9. Arnonnap Kanthiya, in Welding Technology.
  10. Suppakorn Chankumueang, in Mechanical Engineering CAD.

Mr. Pongkawin added, “The ASEAN Skills Competition is the first international platform for Thai youth to showcase their ability. It serves as an important benchmark in measuring the success of skills development. The results indicate the future labour market’s demand for knowledge and skills, especially in automation, digital technologies, and data analytics, while continuing to strengthen traditional craft and service skills that are Thailand’s strengths. Winning medals boosts the prospects of these young people not only for higher education and scholarships but also for employment. Many past competitors have been highly sought after by leading businesses, with some companies, such as Denso International Asia Co., Ltd., planning to employ participants immediately upon graduation.”

Mr. Decha Pruksapatnarak, Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, added, “The Ministry of Labour, through the Department of Skill Development, has awarded certificates and cash prizes to the participants. Gold medallists receive 150,000 Baht, silver medallists 75,000 Baht, bronze medallists 40,000 Baht, and Medals for Excellence (consolation prize) 20,000 Baht. Those who did not win medals receive 10,000 Baht each as a scholarship to encourage them. In addition, plaques of appreciation and certificates were presented to 47 supporters who provided budget, facilities, personnel, materials, equipment, and modern machinery for training camps, contributing to this success.”
