          Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, revealed that the kidney disease situation in Thailand in 2025 has become increasingly serious, with over 1.12 million people diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). There have been 800,000 new cases recorded. At present, approximately 17.6 per cent of the Thai population suffers from chronic kidney disease, most of whom are patients with diabetes and hypertension. For insured persons under the Social Security system, the Minister has issued a policy directing the Social Security Office to ensure that insured persons suffering from kidney disease receive treatment in accordance with international standards and that their treatment rights are no less than other healthcare entitlements. The benefits must also cover four main forms of kidney replacement therapy, namely: Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), Haemodialysis (HD), kidney transplantation, and palliative care.           The Labour Minister stated that kidney disease treatment benefits under Sections 33 and 39 cover insured persons, allowing them to access treatment at all stages free of charge. Ministry of Labour Congratulates Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on the Occasion of the 79th Anniversary of Independence

          February 23, 2026, 18.30 hours – Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, assigned Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, to represent the Ministry of Labour, together with Mr. Mongkol Songkhram, the Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General, to present flowers and extend congratulations at the reception celebrating the 78th Anniversary of the Independence of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. H.E. Mrs Edirisinghe Arachchilage Sriyani Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, received the flowers and welcomed the delegation. Labour Minister Urges SSO to Expedite Unemployment Benefit Payments for Over 330,000 Claimants; Over THB 940M Already Transferred to Insured Persons

          Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, disclosed that she has instructed the Social Security Office to accelerate the payment of unemployment compensation to insured persons, with all provincial offices mobilising staff and extending working hours from 06.00–20.30 to fast-track the consideration and approval of payment orders. According to operational figures from January 5, 2026, to February 12,  2026, the Social Security Office has paid unemployment benefits to 337,594 claimants, totaling over 940.17 million Baht transferred to insured persons’ bank accounts. In addition, the Social Security Office has been instructed to urgently resolve issues across all IT systems in order to facilitate services and alleviate hardship for insured persons as quickly as possible. Labour Minister Pleased as Over 110,000 Job Positions Secured for Thais Domestically and Overseas; Notes Income from Overseas Employment Exceeds THB 99Bn

          Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, disclosed figures on job placements between September 26, 2025, and February 1, 2026, stating that 66,741 people were placed in jobs domestically through the Thai Mee Ngan Tham (Thailand Has Jobs) system. Most placements were in the manufacturing sector, sales staff, general office personnel, warehouse staff, and drivers. In addition, the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2026, held from January 16–18, 2026, resulted in a further 3,795 people being successfully placed in employment.           The Labour Minister stated that the deployment of Thai workers overseas has also achieved highly satisfactory results. During the period from September 26, 2025, to February 1, 2026, the Ministry of Labour successfully facilitated the overseas employment of 40,086 Thai workers, representing 77.09% of the target of 52,000 placements. Cabinet Approves Reduction of Social Security Contributions Under Sections 33 and 39 for 6 Months from December 2025 to May 2026 as Proposed by MOL: Labour Minister Accelerates Relief Measures for Employers and Insured Persons in 9 Severely Disaster Affected Southern Provinces, Expected to Ease Costs by Over 1.4 Billion Baht

At the Cabinet meeting on December 30,  2025, Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, revealed that the Cabinet approved the draft Ministerial Regulation of the Ministry of Labour on the criteria, procedures, and conditions for reducing Social Security Fund contributions for employers and insured persons in areas severely affected by disasters. The measure reduces Social Security Fund contribution rates for employers and insured persons for a period of 6 months, from December 2025 to May 2026, in 9 disaster-affected provinces in the southern region, namely: Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phatthalung, Yala, Songkhla, Satun, and Surat Thani. The details are as follows: Section 33 insured persons and employers will have a reduced monthly contribution rate from 5% to 3% of the insured person’s wages, while the government contribution remains unchanged at 2.75% of wages per month. Section 39 insured persons will have a reduced monthly contribution from 432 Baht (based on a wage base of 4,800 Baht) to 283 Baht. Permanent Secretary Welcomes 22 Thai Workers Returning from Israel After Completion of Employment Term, with 9 Additional Requests for Repatriation

June 23, 2025, 20.00 hours – Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, together with Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Labour, and Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and accompanying officials, welcomed and extended encouragement to 22 Thai workers who were employed by Chemo Aharon Ltd. in Israel. These workers, engaged in the industrial sector under two-year contracts, were part of a short-term project that has now concluded, leading to their return to Thailand. The Permanent Secretary stated that these workers were originally scheduled to return to Thailand on June 16, 2025, but due to the unusual and unstable situation, their return was delayed. The company, Chemo Aharon Ltd., arranged return flights and covered all expenses for the workers, including airfare, visa fees, meals, and ground transportation to Amman Airport. May 31, 2025 – Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, shared a media briefing following his response to questions during the House of Representatives budget deliberation on the 2026 Fiscal Year Budget Bill, affirming that he addressed all concerns raised by the opposition with clarity and precision.  Mr. Phiphat stated that the increased 2026 Fiscal Year budget allocation for the Ministry of Labour will support key programs under the Department of Skill Development, including procurement of computer and AI systems. These investments are crucial for developing updated training curricula in IT and AI, replacing outdated equipment to align with evolving labour market demands. He added that traditional skill development models no longer match industry needs. In response, the Ministry is enhancing workforce capabilities through collaboration between the Department of Skill Development, educational institutions, and private enterprises by upskilling and reskilling with modern skills. March 26, 2025 – Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, confirmed to the media at the parliament that “the Ministry of Labour has always been proactive about illegal foreign workers and has never used the issue as a political tool.” He also immediately instructed the “Trai Thep Phithak” Special Task Force along with the special task force to investigate foreign workers from the Central Employment Registration and Jobseeker Protection Division, Department of Employment, to inspect Chinese businesses in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province, after reports of illegal foreign workers. “Labour Minister Supports Southern Flood Relief Measures: Grants of 9,000 Baht per Household, 50 Million Baht Emergency Budget, and 300 Technicians to Repair Appliances Free of Charge, Employer Contribution Reduced to 3%”

On December 5, 2024,  Labour Minister Phipat Ratchakitprakarn visited flood-affected areas in Phatthalung Province to deliver relief kits to informal workers, self-employed individuals, and residents impacted by the disaster. The visit was joined by Mr. Kongsakul Chantrach, Deputy Governor of Phatthalung Province, acting as Governor; Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathien, Chairperson of the Minister’s Advisory Committee; Mr. Phuchong Warasri from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat Office; Mr. Phumipat Muenchan, Labour Ministry Spokesperson; and other senior officials, including department directors and provincial Labour Ministry representatives. Thai Youths Win 9 Medals at WorldSkills; Labour Minister Injects Prize Money Valued Over 1 Million Baht

On September 17, 2024, at 18.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, chaired the award ceremony or certificates of honour for competitors in the WorldSkills Lyon 2024. He also presented plaques of honour to competition sponsors. Thailand’s young competitors brought won one gold medal, one silver medal, and seven medals of outstanding skills, along with a total prize of over a million Baht. Labour Minister Creates Teachers A and B to Invite Independent Workers to Register for Benefits, Aiming for 9 Million People in the First Year

          The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, said that the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, supports the training of Teacher B or independent labour networks at the village/community level nationwide. The project aims to improve the quality of life of informal workers through community networks through the registration of informal workers. The Ministry of Labour has implemented the project from June to August 2024 in all provinces, providing knowledge about the benefits of the people according to the draft Act on the Promotion of Quality of Life and Protection of Informal Labour B.E. .. and the use of the independent worker registration system to Bangkok labour volunteers, village headsmen, assistant village headsmen, subdistrict doctors, and regional village headsmen, totaling 75,249 people. MOL Ranks 2nd in the Country in the ITA 2024 Assessment, Averaging 93.69 Points in Ethics and Transparency Among 21 Ministries

     On August 2, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, reported that on July 30, 2024, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) announced the results from the Integrity and Transparency Assessment (ITA) for the 2024 fiscal year 2024 at the ITA DAY & ITA AWARDS 2024 under the concept of Transparency with Quality. This year, the Ministry of Labour had an average score of 93.69 out of 100, ranking second in the country out of a total of 21 ministries. In the evaluation, the score improved from 2023, when it was ranked fifth. In first place was the Ministry of Industry, which received an evaluation result of 93.85 points.
