          Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the commencement of the workforce development project for 2017, awarding 180 outstanding organizations at the Impact Arena in Muang Thong Thani. The Labour Minister commended recipient organizations on their efforts, and emphasized that continuous workforce development was key to business and national progression. He said that a developed national workforce would promote adaptability to new trends which is a channel in reducing capital and boosting long-term business competitiveness. The Ministry of Labour’s workforce development project is a contribution to human resource development initiatives in alignment with the 20-year national strategy and Thailand 4.0 policy. The efforts will also strengthen and add value to Thai SME businesses expanding internationally by being a strategic partner in human resource development.

          The Department of Skills Development’s Director-General Mr. Teerapol Koonmuang said that the 2017 Thai Workforce Development project had contributed to employee development in 180 organizations, totaling 11,826 employees which exceeds the target of 10,000. In monetary value, the efforts have increased productivity by 451 million Baht and reduced production waste by 337 million Baht, bringing the total value to 789 million Baht. Furthermore, officers and officials at the Department of Skills Development were also developed by participating in consultations where different experiences were shared, and also from being network speakers.  In 2018, the government has allocated 47.9 million Baht to continue the efforts.
