Chief Inspector-General Visits Sisaket

          On February 27, 2020, the Ministry of Labour’s Chief Inspector-General Mr. Suwan Duangta and the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Ms. Kettharin Chaisri visited the area to observe the occupational alleviation project and urgent employment activities in village weir repair and renovations with concrete, and then visited the Ban Hai volcanic clay dye community enterprise, Moo 6, Tum, Si Rattana, Sisaket, which was selected as a model for informal workers in Sisaket province. It has plans to support groups in dyeing, marketing, creating social security, and occupational health and safety. The Inspector-General’s committee recommended integrations with external agencies such as provincial commerce, etc. and established as a provincial order in a working group to design, develop products, add value, and have marketing channels on the website (e-Commerce) to further expand careers towards sustainability.

          In the afternoon, they attended meetings with the heads of departments under the Ministry of Labour in Sisaket Province, at the conference room of the Office of Skill Development. The meeting was the second session of the progress review according to the inspection plan of the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General for 2020. The meeting also listened to the comments of labour volunteers in relation to the mission of the Ministry of Labour in the area. The Chief Inspector-General said that labour volunteers have an important role to play in the area, whether for career promotion and employment, extension of insurer protection under Section 40, surveillance of unfair labour practices, problems of using foreign workers in the area, prevention and resolution of labour trafficking and strengthening immunity and prevention of drug problems in establishments with less than 10 employees. Labour volunteers are considered to have great sacrifice, and in raising the level of labour services and improving the quality of life of people in the area to cover all sub-districts.

          After that, the Inspector-General inspected the government inspection plan of the Office of the Permanent Secretary for 2020 on the issue of driving policy mechanisms to prevent and resolve the problem of human trafficking. The Chief Inspector-General emphasized joining the multidisciplinary team to investigate, arrest and separate victims from forced labour or services and human trafficking, by focusing mainly on the news received from network partners in the area.
