Department of Labour Protection and Welfare asked for cooperation from employers to help prevent influenza.

        Mr. Ananchai Uthaiwattanachep, Director General of the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare revealed that the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health From 1 January to 20 August 2018, 89,846 people have been diagnosed with influenza, 12 people have died, and more patients are expected to be hospitalized due to seasonal outbreaks, weather variability, hot weather with rain can make illness easy and often find patients in closed and crowded places. The Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, therefore, cooperated with employers and business owners to provide preventive measures for their employees in the workplace by introducing knowledge about health care and disease prevention, screening, preventive measures such as protective mask, hand wash with soap or alcohol gel, etc.
        Mr. Ananchai further stated that for sick workers can apply for sick leave, the Labor Protection Act gives the employee the right to sick leave as long as he or she is sick and receive a wage not exceeding 30 working days per year. However, employees are required to comply with the regulations on leave of business establishment, such as informing the supervisor, showing the medical certificate in the case of sick leave for more than 3 consecutive days, etc. In case of finding a sick employee, the employer should give employees leave for the health of their employees and prevent the spread of the disease to other employees, which may affect their operations.
