Deputy Labour Minister Accelerates the Digital Institute

          The Deputy Labour Minister received the Prime Minister’s policies towards a digital government, setting up a Digital Human Resource Development Institute in response to the New Normal, launching in the month of love, this February 18.

          On February 12, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwat reported the drive of strategy in developing manpower to be ready for the digital economy and society, following the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy under the leadership of General Prayut Chan-o-cha and the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan. The policy focuses on developing manpower towards using digital technology intelligently in their careers. It creates valuable employment and supports the changing workforce structure in the manufacturing and service sectors replaced by digital technology. As the main agency for the development of the country, the Department of Skill Development oversees over 37 million people. It looked for cooperation with various public and private agencies to develop the workforce to have better potential and increased capabilities, promoting Thailand to compete with other countries.

          The Deputy Labour Minister continued that the National Vocational Training Coordination Committee’s (NVTCC) resolution approved the establishment of a Digital Human Resource Development Institute to present policies, set goals, and plan the development of a digital workforce. It aims to provide training courses for the workforce, invite speakers and people from the digital field, and conduct national skill standard assessments in digital-related fields, operating with modern equipment and tools. Recently, Huawei Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has joined the network to develop skills. It has supported equipment and tools necessary for training, to be used regularly at the Digital Human Resource Development Institute, also providing speakers to educate personnel or trainers from the Department of Skill Development, to extend the workforce’s results throughout the country.

          The Digital Human Resource Development Institute is located on the 6th floor, 25-year building, Department of Skill Development. There will be a ceremony for receiving equipment and tools for use at the institute on February 18, 2021, at the Jompol P. Phibulsongkhram meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. A seminar will be held on the day, about developing digital technology skills to enhance businesses and industries. Participants will gain information and exchange visions on three topics, including 5G for an industry 4.0, enterprise management for industrial transformation, and Huawei Cloud Services for industries by experts from Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., who operate in the business and industrial sectors.           “This even will allow operators in the business and industrial sectors to understand, recognize and place importance on human resource development to support digital technology. It will also promote services provided by the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development that has established a Digital Human Resource Development Institute for entrepreneurs and all interested workers, to create awareness and continue to boost access to government services,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
