Deputy Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Join Together to Help Flood Victims in the South

          Deputy Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives joined together to help flood victims in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani, to listen to the need for support after the flooding subsides. They also provided over 1,000 survival bags to victims to build morale among the people in the South.
          On December 9, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao led a team of staff to deliver over 1,000 survival bags to help flood victims in the southern regions, in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani Province. They listened to the people’s problems and needs after the flood subsided and visited the Temporary Shelter Center in Hu Long, Pak Phanang, Nakhon Si Thammarat. They gave words of encouragement and distributed 500 sets of subsistence bags to flood victims. Nakhon Si Thammarat Governor Mr. Kraisorn, Wisitwong, and heads of government agencies also joined and facilitated the visit. In addition, they visited the Nakhon Si Thammarat Skill Development Institute 22 and organized a mobile service to repair home electrical equipment to alleviate the suffering of flood victims.
          Pak Phanang district is an area that supports water from the inner provinces before flowing into the Pak Phanang River and then into the Gulf of Thailand. Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces have assigned relevant agencies to accelerate the drainage to alleviate the people’s suffering and assigned a temporary shelter for people suffering from the flooding and lacking temporary housing.
          The Deputy Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives traveled to meet agricultural groups affected by flooding at Kanchanadit District Office in Surat Thani. The Provincial Governor (Mr. Witchawut Jinto) and the head of government agencies in Surat Thani province gave a welcoming. They delivered survival bags to the affected people with another 500 sets to the Khlong Sai Pattana Community and Permsap Community, Sai Thong, Chai Buri, Surat Thani, and visited the community area management. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives gave the policy and approach to solving land problems between two communities. The Deputy Labour Minister spoke about the joint integration of the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and said that the two operate with the same objective, that is to solve the problem of labour to be free from poverty and to be equipped with the knowledge to pursue a career and not be in debt.
          The Deputy Labour Minister said that if agricultural workers seek more knowledge or to add value to their careers, they can contact the agencies under the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development located in the area. Many courses in technology and craftsmanship, including arts and crafts, can extend knowledge to agricultural workers, such as selling agricultural products online and packaging design to increase product value. Craftsmen can apply the knowledge to a personal career during vacations from the harvest season, such as electricians, air conditioner technicians, and small motor mechanic for agriculture. There is also a network of funds sources, such as the Government Savings Bank, which cooperates with the Small Industry Credit Guarantee Corporation (TCG), which acts as a guarantee for loans.
