“Gen. Adul” and “Teng Swe” opened the first center to receive in Ranong to import fishing labor under the MOU.

                    On September 23, 2018, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labour, presided over the opening ceremony of Post-Arrival and Reintegration Center for Migrant Workers in Ranong Province, located at 89/227 Moo 1, Pak Nam Subdistrict, Muang District, Mr. Teng Swe (H.E.U Thein Swe) Minister of Labor Immigration and Population of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, along with Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary of Labor, Mr. Anurak Tossarat, Director General, Department of Employment, and Senior Executives, Ministry of Labor participated in this event. The Minister of Labor stated that Thailand aims to ensure that migrant workers are legally entitled to work under the Thai law to have the right, welfare, fair and reasonable income. This year the government has done many things to improve the quality of life for migrant workers, such as Iris Scan System, marine fisheries workers, continuity of 171,128 fishing activities, developing the PIPO system to prevent illegal fishing, and protecting labor in the fisheries sector, Continuing 30 sea fishing centers in 22 coastal provinces include amendments to the law for labor protection, the report of the migrant workers 3 nationality (Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia) to live and work properly. During the month of Feb-Jun 2018, workers came to work on the history, ID cards, and work permits of about 1.2 million people, all of which were co-sponsored by the country of origin of the labor force to prove effective citizenship.

 

                    Gen. Adul said that “Post-Arrival and Reintegration Center for Migrant Workers” in Ranong will be a center for the labor of Myanmar to work in the marine fisheries sector. This is in line with the joint discussions between Thailand and Myanmar, which will send workers to work on the second island of Myanmar. It will help reduce the process. The work will be conducted in the form of ONE STOP SERVICE. Workers will be assessed Visa, Workers’ registration, training in the fisheries sector, welfare, and work permits from the Ministry of Labor. This makes it possible to obtain a work permit from the Department of Fisheries (Sea Book). In addition to the IT system to help with the appointment, confirmation of the number of labor, boat trips on each day, convenience, speed, no labor residue, employers can pick up workers on schedule.
                    The cooperation of Thailand and Myanmar on the supply of labor in the fisheries sector will help to improve the livelihood of fishermen, Thai entrepreneurs and the welfare of the migrant workers. This will contribute to the overall economy of the two countries and will intensify the cooperation.
