Gen. Adul prepares to welcome Lao Minister of Labor to visit Thailand, tighten cooperation to organize labor

          Mrs.Petcharat Sinauy, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor as the spokesman of the Ministry of Labor revealed that Dr. Khamphang Saisomphang, Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and his team are due to visit Thailand during 3 – 5 April 2018 to discuss with H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor, Mr. Anurak Tossarat, Director General, Department of Employment, and Senior Executive, Ministry of Labor. The important issues to be discussed here include the situation in Lao PDR, the registration of Lao workers’ records, the permission for Lao workers to return home on Songkran Festival during April 5-30. The Ministry of Labor asked the Lao side to waive entry fees, opening the first center to work and ending employment in Mukdahan to support Lao workers to work in Thailand in accordance with the MOU, as well as the cooperation of the two sides in the skill training.

          Mrs Petcharat further stated that currently, about 21,000 migrant workers are required to register in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The two sides’ discussions will be able to foster closer cooperation, in cooperation with the appropriate number of tools and staff. The Lao PDR will be able to carry out the plan as scheduled and be completed by June 30, 2018, which will benefit the Lao people who come to work in Thailand to be protected under Thai law and get to Thailand correctly. It also reduces the risk of victims of trafficking and exploitation.
